I've got a 72 Lynx, same as the sled I rode as a youngster.
And a 69 Scorpion Mark II, same as the sled I learned to ride on.
I do want 1 more vintage. (Only 1 because of limited storage space) A 73-75 Raider. Was so unique/ almost futuristic when they came out. I was in awe of them. Asked Dad if we could get one, I think his response was "H... NO!!"

I love the old Scorpions. My mom's '74, that they bought new. I have the dealership sign from my dad's old dealer. I also have a Scorpion Sidewinder. 20200324_162845.jpg 20180420_155039.jpg

Sorry, don't know why they are sideways.

Sup Gary,
My Cousin back in say 1986 or so had several SS Scorpions with I believe JLO motors (or was it Cuyana)?
Anyway, the motors made a cool sound almost like a whining..what caused that?

1983 SS440 fully restored.

I remember back in 1983 we went to the Snow Show in Green Bay, WI at the "Arena" (that they tore down last fall) and "Sports Villa" (anyone remember who owned that) Yamaha had all these revolutionary sleds..yours seemed one of my favorites.

Your current sled is tight!

Anyway; sad to say the show is no longer, the snow is no longer and Yamaha is basically an Arctic Cat. Times have changed big time in 25 years.

Them Scorpions that made that whining had CCW engines in them. Canadian Curtis Wright My brother had a 400 Super Stinger Great running machine but the skis wore out in a hurry back then.

That was the the first and last sled (model and year) my Dad bought for me. A few years ago I found a 12 year old kid who was selling it the exact model and year I was looking for. It Needed lots of work. Wouldn't start and bought it for around $800. I had it fully restored down to every screw. The sad thing is I haven't even ridden it yet. I probably shouldn't admit that, but we (me and my son) haven't taken the time yet. For sure next year however. Very happy with how it turned out. Even has a brand new skid installed for that exactly model. Yamaha actually had a brand new one in a crate ready to go. Couldn't believe it.
