Long time JD'r, never poster...

I have a friend of mine who's son wears a size 17 shoe and is looking for hockey skates. Anyone know of where he can find skates in this monster size?
Thanks!

You can try http://www.gunzos.com/ or Wilmette bicycle and sport shop (847) 251-1404
wilmete sport shop has lots of new and used hockey stuff they are a hockey H.Q. for the area. There is 2 big time hockey high schools in the area, lots of stuff there. Gunzos I think is just hockey stuff never been there, but its a big place. drive by it all the time.

I haven't bought skates in few years but you always used to have to buy them (at least) one size smaller than your shoe size. (So if he orders some he may need to order a 16.) I doubt any local hockey shops would carry that size, and I couldn't recommend anyone particular as the guy I always used went out of business. I'm sure there's some online hockey specific retailers as well.

Played hockey for 15 years just got done pretty sad :/ , but off to college haha. But with hockey skates they vary in size compared to foot size. All skates Bauer, CCM, Easton, etc will all be different. I personally never have heard of skates being that big but for example I wear a size 10.5 shoe, but wear a size 9 Bauer skate... I would just check around at your local hockey shops, sporting goods stores. If he lives in Minnesota it should not be that big of a problem to find some. Good luck.
