2012 ski doo summit rev xp
Rode in the UP all day Friday and Saturday. All well. Started this morning, warmed up and backed out of the trailer.
Went ~3 blocks down the road to trail access. I heard a Bang and thought maybe I clipped an ice chunk I didn't see. Sled still running fine. Buddy races up along side me with wide eyes frantically pointing at my sled. I look down and see fire.
Long story short...brakes failed and caught fire. Been reading online where it's happened to others. Ski doo seems to claim in most that the parking brake was left on. I'm 99% sure mine was off. I don't think I could back out of my trailer and down the ramp with the parking brake on. On mine there are multiple broken pieces inside the shroud. I'm wondering if the brakes were frozen, although there was no riding the day before that would have caused that. No water or slush and it was only 24 degrees, so no excessive melting in the trailer overnight.
Anybody else hear of this? Trying to see what my options are if I have any chance of the dealer or ski doo covering some of this. Even if it's just parts.
If this would have failed the day before when riding off-trail I don't know how we'd have gotten it out.
