Ski Doo chassis life

Just curious….looking for opinions…..is it worth going to a 4 stroke doo based on what you see for the life of the chassis? Obviously the motor will go 20k miles….on a light to moderate duty trail sled that is not pounded will the chassis make it past 10k miles on an xs/gen 4?

I'm pretty sure mine will. No concerns with the chassis, just gas and go and change the oil once a year. That's a lot to like!

Why.....do the 2 stroke sleds get scrapped when the rings wear out?

The gen4 wide is a different chassis than the Doo 2s chassis so I think that’s the purpose of his question. Everybody knocked Yamaha too saying chassis would be garbage at 10k miles which proved to be totally false. With high cost of new sleds Mach $20gs they better last.

Because people will just upgrade instead of putting some money into a rebuild. By the time it’s ready for rebuild there has more than likely something new. My2 cents.

Most people?! Maybe unless Yamaha people:) so when are you thinking it will be time to replace your poo? Or will you just rebuild? You as the owner have that decision. My oldest in the fleet is a 2013 with 13k nothing more than normal maintenance stuff.

poo was rebuilt at 8400. The chassis is in real good shape. It has less stress on it than a 4 stroke because it weighs 100 # less.
I think the OP is referring to the fragile nature the Doo chassis is famous for. I would hope they gusset up the chassis to hold up to all the added weight of their 4 strokes.
The new Poo chassis is no more durable that the Doo's now days. And in some ways less.

The 900 Doo is not heavy like the old 1200.

Your only problem is Doo sold all the 900s they could make early order, so you cannot buy a 2022 900.

You will start having issues at 10k with a high power Sled and 15k with a 900 na.

I wouldn't worry a bit, buy an X or XRS if you are concerned.
I know we're talking wide body here but comparatively I have about 15,000 miles over 7 Gen 4 body 850's and have had no issues yet. Literally..not one problem.
I considered the Mach for 2022 but did another 850 X Gade. There was really nothing for me to gain by going to a 4 stroke.
I say buy it.

It would be a very good read for you to go back several years, and read the extensive report of the guy who put on 20k plus miles on the first year Doo 900 Turbo. All the details, and just regular maintenance being performed. He also used mostly Reg grade gas, some with ethanol.

Id think any of the chassis these days would go 10k without an issue. Some of the bigger 2 strokes, maybe not.
