Have 2-2004 600 HO sleds thought I would check before putting them away. Compression is 125 in all the cylinders on both sled (9000) miles. What was spec origional? warming them up and a litle oil in the cyl did not change thanks for help

125 is not low. Around 130'ish new, if I remember correctly. 9000 miles I sure hope they've had new top ends by now. If not, your on borrowed time for sure!

My '05 600 SDI just turned 9000 miles and is still in the 140's, never been opened. I wouldn't say at 125 yours is at the critical stage (depending on how you ride), but I would say it's time to start keeping a close eye on it and watching for signs.

4-6k depending on how you ride,(sooner if you ride really hard) you should be replacing pistons on rotax motors. There will be no warning! The skirts will break and you will be buying jugs to. The pistons get heat fatigued and the skirts break. Top ends are cheap insurance. 9000 is pushing your luck even if you baby it. Not saying 9k plus isn't possible, just saying its not worth the risk.

Maybe not.....but most of the time when when I get my paws into something it becomes a case of "if it ain't broke, fix it till it is", so if it goes, it goes. After 9000 (and counting) trouble-free miles, I'm still ahead of the game.

(Actually, despite knowing that I'll probably kick myself later, I probably will not be able to resist the urge to do a top end once I figure out how).

You can get Wiseco set for $250ish or SPI for $150ish. Sounds cheap to me, I've spent $400 on a track...
