Ski-Doo extra fuel tanks

I agree, Snobuilder, those hoses are the best. Never a problem and they work fast. Got mine at the Derby a couple of years ago. They now sell them at the Championship Snowmobile museum next door to the Derby.

Or Fleet Farm for at least ten years now.

Insert frowning emoji..

Ha Ha, just a little poke at ya fuji!!! Rode with several Poo HO 800,s, and and 600,s in Canada. The AXYS are a really nice sled, period. But, there's big difference in mpg's as to the Doo's of what ever. So, you just pack a extra fuel caddy and enjoy the trip. I can't wait for your comparo reports on your new Poo, as you are thorough in every aspect. The Poo 600's seemed to have the worst mpg's, this was somewhat puzzling to me???

To what end? I don't understand.

Lots of riders will siphon from the sled that has more gas to the sled that is out of gas direct sled to sled or to a spare can then transfer to the out of gas sled. A lot easier to carry than a can with gas. I still think you are overly concerned but the siphon hose may give you piece of mind and you can practice a gas transfer so you know it works. Good solution imo.

Just making sure I read this correctly - you're saying your best gas mileage was in SPORT mode vs. ECO mode? I would have thought the opposite would be the case.
Yes you are reading that correctly----I get better mileage in "sport" mode than in "ECO". About the only difference is way less power and speed..

As others have mentioned, chances are your 4 stroke sled will have at least a couple more gallons than the 2 smoker if you run it right to empty....If not, most fellow sledders are good Samaritans and will donate fuel to them that run out.
But if you are running in very remote areas, by all means get the ski doo linq tank. It's the best option out there.

Had my trusty shaker siphon out a few different times. Once between my sled and a riding partners and at least 3 times helping out total strangers on the trail.....sure beats towing for miles on end like the 2 young fellas we found stranded would have had to do if we hadn't come along.
Even sled friendly Forest CO WI can put you 25-30 miles from fuel in every direction....LOL

Once you "learn" your gas meter, life on your new sleds will be less nervous.

my '13 600 indy avg. 13-14. The '15 800HO is 14-15 mpg. i hear 600 e techs are great at sipping fuel but the 800 is about the same as the Poo running side by side. I've seen more than 1 rodes reports in the mags that put the doo 800 in mid teens.
The '15 poo has a longer range than an Apex. due to same mpg and a bigger tank.

but if I was to pay heed to the gas meter on the '15 Poo....I would get scared of running out at 80 miles on the trip odo....LOL...I think improvements were made to the later AXYS models so the fuel gage is at least in the ballpark.

From my expierence doo tanks have always read less than what is there after you get off full. Basically it reads full for a long while then goes to 2 bars pretty quick which would make you think you have a quarter tank or less but really your around half. But even without gauge Easy math you have a 10.6 gallon tank on most doos. G4s are 9.5 but use every drop(much better tank design). Only about 10 gallons on xs chassis of those can get to the fuel line unless ur going downhill. But most sleds should get at least 15mpg. 15x10=150. So easy rule of thumb if your over 100 miles on the day prolly shouldn’t pass a gas station. Unless u wana be like Kramer and go for it.

my 16 axys never worked..i ride blind on gas

Rider style/characteristics will make a difference in mpg, no doubt about it.

SO UR SAYING 100MPH WILL BURN MORE GAS? HEHEHEHE

Hi All,

I need some recommendations for a place that can help me order a couple extra fuel tanks for our two Ski-Doo snowmobiles. We have a 2017 Ski-Doo 900 ACE Grand Touring SE, and a 2015 Ski-Doo 800R E-TEC MXZ TNT.

We purchased them new a couple winters ago, but didn't really get a chance to use them until last winter ('17). My son and I are new to snowmobiling. We had a blast, but the conservative side of me was constantly watching the fuel gauge, checking maps, gas station locations (or other facilities that offered fuel), distance to our hotel, when the sun was due to go down, etc., etc. After seeing some other riders with extra fuel tanks on their sleds, I decided that was a good insurance policy to give me some peace of mind and told myself to get it done before the 2018 winter riding season begins...and here we are.

I visited my local Ski-Doo dealer and asked them for their help in buying the right fuel tanks for both sleds. I don't want to publicly shame them, so I'll leave their name out of it, but the couple folks I talked to weren't much help. I went online to Amazon but their ability to determine the right fuel tank with the appropriate sled is weak. Then I went to another Ski-Doo oriented site...still couldn't determine the right tank/sled association so I filled out their online form asking for some assistance - no response after 3 business days. Sooooo, I'm turning to this group. What recommendations do you have for a company that can help me buy the correct spare fuel tanks for these two sleds? Thanks!

FYI; there is a bunch of Linq items including gas and oil containers on Wausau Craigslist on 11/26/18.
