Ski-Doo owners?

Since no model stated & rode both GSX & Nytro XTX I would say doo 1200 does not have the same snap off the line as Nytro & doo mpg stuck at 15 no matter how you ride. Nytro seems to have more balls but 139 HP to doo 130ish. Can't say anything bad about doo 1200 I just like more HP since ride 150hp Attak. Gsx handled well like all XPs 2s or 4s.

The motors between the 2 are very similar in horsepower. It's just another reliable 4-stroke. Don't have any input on the chassis though...

Here's a good place to get some info on them:

http://www.dootalk.com/forums/index.php?showforum=128

Seems from what I have read on them, alot of satisfied owners, and a fairly reliable machine.

If it's any indication, there doesn't really seem to be alot of used ones for sale, and have seen where several people who have had previous year 1200's buy another 1200.

I've rode both also. The doo I rode was the standard 1200 Gade. Whitedust Is right on with the Yamaha having a touch more snap down low, but the weight of the 4S seems more centered to me on the doo instead of out front like on the Yamaha. It may just be an illusion but it made the doo feel lighter and easier through the curves.

I've ridden both short and long track XRs and Nytros. Motors felt very similar (Yami was peppier and more responsive to throttle input), but HANDS DOWN the Doo rides better. Not quite as nimble as my 800 XP was, but my TNT 1200 turns WAY better than the Nytro. I've got almost 2k on the clock, and I'd definately buy another one.

i HAVE A 2012 1200 GADE-
i HAVE ABOUT 300 MILES ON IT, AFTER THE FIRST 3 MILES I WAS HAPPY WITH IT, AFTER 30 MILES I WAS GETTING THE TO KNOW ITS PERSONALITY MUCH BETTER. aFTER A STOP AT THE TAVERN FOR A BURGER AND BEER, I listened to what the 1200 was asking for- I rode the next 40 plus miles the way she wanted to be rode.... I put the spurrs to her and i dug them in deep. I was relentless with the motor from then on, I made it to the cabin with a huge smile on my face and new that it was a great purchase. The motor cannot be out ridden. it will never give up, get tired or need a brake! when you can crusie this thing at 80 plus for miles on end and not worry about the motor troubles of a 2-stroke, or pound it from corner to corner it doesnt care one bit. The sled and motor are only as good as the person behind the bars. It feels like "improved" running 700 2-stroke. So with all this said i was riding with a guy on a 09 XP 800 gade and a 2012 Cat XF 800. they are faster on the top end but they wont get around you on the trails.

I have the TNT of the 1200's which is the short version of the XR Chassis. This quite possibly is the last machine that I'll ever own, it's that good. Incredible torque throughout the powerband and under 500 lbs. The engine is quiet, above 60 all you hear is the wind and it corners like a charm, very stable.

The engine braking is unique to all 4 Strokes. It takes a day or two to get used to and then you begin to use it in the corners, you seldom touch the brake. As stated above, around 15 miles per gallon. The Oil & Filter Change are easy and take about 10 minutes. It burns Regular Gas and uses Synthetic Oil in the crank.

On the Minus Side, the cost of these machines is prohibitive for many, especially in a low-snow year. There's not much storage available which can be addressed with Dash & Tunnel Bags. But in reality I don't have a need to carry much anymore no plugs, no oil, just a spare belt & tow strap. There's no recoil on these engines and I doubt you could spin it with a rope anyway.

There's a lot to like with Doo's 1200. These engines came out in 2009 and there have been very few updates, they got it right the first time.

I have a 2011 Gade, over 1400 miles now and it is the best sled I have ever owned, the low end torque is unreal, I ride with a guy that has a Nytro non XTX and likes it. We have switched sleds several times and now he is seriously thinking about buying one. We have went head to head several times with each of us equally winning 660 ft races. He has several mods on his and all I have on mne is a MBRP exhaust system. I can tell you you will be very happy with the handling and ride compared to your XTX. Good luck with your decision. Here is a pic.

For those who have a 1200, have you experienced the clutch noise that many have, at least from what I've read on other forums? Seems to be the only real complaint that some have had.

SKidooking-have you and your friend compared fuel mileage of the Doo 1200 and Yami Nytro?

There is a noise from the clutch between 3 to 4K rpms. The experts call it "a harmonic frequency", for the rest of us it's called Clutch Noise. It's noticeable on the 1200 because of the quiet engine, a 2 Stroke with higher decibals drowns out the noise.

I've got 4,400 miles on my 11' 1200 Gade and it's the best sled I've owned to date. The comments above from the other owers are spot on.

With just one ride my sled has converted (3) of my friends that have now purchased 1200's for themselves. They previously came from 07' AC F8, 05 AC F7 & 07' Ski Doo 800 Gade. I used to have multiple Ski Doo 800's, 600's and Polaris 600's

I would only go back to a 2-stroke for mountain, ditch banging or for off-trail 50%+ of the time.

Fantastic machine for sure!!

That is the only disappointment regarding doo 1200 only 15mpg thought it would be more like in 20smpg like Vector but doo milage = to Yam 150. Someone in thread said their 1200 was getting 16mpg but best I have ever seen from 1200 is 15ish. Maybe those big jugs suck down the fuel don't know why it does not do better.

I get around 16.9 on the trail taking it easy 15.6 all day long in race mode. Off trail is 14.3. Rich's best on the Nytro has been 16.

Hope this helps.
