Any recommendations for snowmobile insurance? What are most people paying for sled insurance? I have Nationwide now, but new bill came and they jacked up the price again so looking for suggestions. Thanks.

we pay just under $500/year for a 2017 Eltigre 8000 and 2009 F8 through west bend full coverage but I also have everything I own including my business insured through them so not sure what that does to my premium, don't really shop around too much, we are very happy with our agent and to me the work he does for us is worth staying for.

Insurance is the biggest ponzi scheme there is , run without , just be safe.

I ran without in 2007, hooked a ski around a 6 inch tree riding near Sugar Camp, WI; cost me about 3k (50% of the sleds value). Ended up selling to "Falbes Body Shop" near Beaver Dam, WI.
One small accident and the skid is twisted deeming a total-out.

Could move the deductibles up and see the new premium.
Seems either sleds gets stolen or totaled..not much else.

I hope that I never have to deal with someone that doesn’t have insurance
Try Geico insurance (you know, the one with the little green gecko guy). I’ve had them for many years, I filed a claim about three years ago for $3100 and they took care of me very well, lo and behold when I got my renewal notice this season my rates actually went down to $115 a year for basic coverage for 2 sleds, when I go on my 1st trip of the season, I call them up to include full coverage, then when my season is over I call them up and switch back to the basic coverage and save a whole bunch of money, give them a call

Too many variables like location, previous claims, credit scores, etc. We left American Family a few years ago, premiums kept creeping up despite never filing a claim. Moved everything over to State Farm with the current sled premium at 191. Best bet is to pick a half dozen and make some calls.

at a very minimum carry liability to protect yourself, other riders, property owners just in case something "would" happen, I could be wrong but I believe the comp/collision insurance is what drives the cost up but I wouldn't be operating anything these days without liability at least, I don't care how careful you are. Last year was the first year in 20 years we had to use insurance, yes I paid through out the years, and I consider myself a safe rider but if we hadn't had insurance would have been over $10,000.00 out of my pocket and could have been much more if it hadn't been confined to our two sleds and my wife's knee, if the accident had happened or been involved with another rider could have been much worse, go without?.... no thanks. Definition of accident; an unplanned event.

State Farm $190 a year full coverage on my 2016 Polaris Pro RMK 800 155”. I don’t have anything else through them either. Started out at 240 when the sled was new and has slowly decreased since. This is for a sled I smash through trees the entire time I ride it.

There are way to many variables in insurance to do a this guy to this guy comparison. They best thing you can do for yourself is find an agent and have them put together a comprehensive package for you tailored to your needs and budget. Be it an independent one, or direct writer. Remember that insurance will always be a pure risk in that you pay a premium for a promise that may never be needed.

I only carry PL/PD and Comp. It's the collision coverage that hits you. I take the difference that collision would cost, bank it and self insure myself.

I am thousands ahead over my many, many years of sledding.

As Euphoric1 indicated, at the very least, carry liability coverage on your sled as you should on your car. If for some reason you have an accident with another party and there are injuries, you want to have insurance to protect you financially. A unfortunate accident with injuries to others could really wipe someone out financially and is a risk that I sure don't want to take.

I have full coverage on my 2019 Summit 850 which includes liability coverage in the amount of $250,000 per person and $500,000 max per accident. I also have a $500 collision deductible. My annual rate through State Farm is $307. This rate will go down also as the sled gets older.

A person has to have liability insurance in this day and age. We live in a highly litagious society. If you so much as tap a stopped sled with somebody on it you are at risk of a whiplash suit. Neck and back injuries are an open checkbook for ambulance chasing lawyers. I witnessed this 2 decades ago and it turned into a long drawn out expensive hairball. Over nothing. But it cost very dearly. As far as physical and collision that is another matter entirely. I have full coverage on my over 10000 dollar sled mostly for theft. And last season somebody tried to take it but failed. So I will continue with my full coverage. The twits may have invested in a bolt cutter over the summer.
