Thinking about finding someone to do some preseason work on my sled (Polaris) - mainly go through the carbs and change the drivetrain bearings. It's work I could do but might not have time this year. Sled is parked in Illinois near the Indiana border so it would be good to find someone near there. Took it to a dealer once near there and had a bad experience so looking for leads. Goodwin is a possibility but that's a bit of a hike from there. Lissy's is closed I've heard. Really need to find someone like Indy_500, maybe a few years back when he had time.

The crew at RT 12 Arctic Cat is really good, it's a little drive from the south side but closer than Goodwin for you, I imagine they could take care of your Polaris. Many shops/dealers south of the city have closed over the years ( there used to be a lot more choices!), I'm sure there are independents ( I See ads on Craigslist), maybe someone will chime in closer to you.

I could have sworn that there was a yamaha dealer in like downers grove or naperville area. If not route 12 is right by my house and they are good for doing work. Nielsen's is in Lake Villa, but thats kinda far from you.

I live in the area, and it depends what you want.
Dealer wise you have:
Xtreme Powersports - 6647 Kennedy Ave, Hammond, IN 46323 - (219) 844-4400 - I personally have never used them but I have never heard anything bad.
Cycle Sport Yamaha - [FONT=arial, sans-serif]8544 US-6, Hobart, IN 46342 - [/FONT](219) 962-4770[FONT=arial, sans-serif] - I have friends that swear by them and I know they are thorough and stand behind their work. (They will work on other brands)
[/FONT]Terpstra's Sales & Service - [FONT=arial, sans-serif]1235 E 45th Ave, Griffith, IN 46319 - [/FONT](219) 838-3600 [FONT=arial, sans-serif]- They were an AC dealer till a few years ago. So, I'm not sure if they still will work on sleds or not, but I know their mechanic's are very good. Ask for Robert.
Robert also does work out of his house on the side. And after I did not clean my carbs good one year. I have had Robert do all my preseason work. Since I bought a new sled this year, he might have an open spot... Honestly he's very good, and I have recomended him to others on hear and they have been very happy with him!

Go see Mike the service manager or Mike M. the owner at cycle sport, they will help you out. Ridge rd and rt 51 Hobart. Xtremes out of business for few yrs now.
I ended up finding time to get the work done myself but thanks for the recommendation. I did talk to Robert and I'll keep his number for future work, both for me and others. Also - Cycle Sport ended up saving my butt since one of the bearings I had was the wrong one, and they were able to cross reference it and figure it out and get me one at worked.

There's a guy in Valpo that does good work at a very reasonable price. Works behind that mini golf course on 30. I have his number somewhere...
