Not to bash Christopher but he came in and started making changes with out knowing what their systems could handle, the upgrades required new, expensive servers that the advertising revenue can't support.
This one nails it on the head. Content is an interesting issue, but their problem is they filled the site with gizmos and gadgets that take up server space/memory. What is the point of that chat bar at the top (except a place to people to type their searches - always cracks me up), and the reputation stuff just bred a whole world of people who posted in the dogpile or whatever it was called to build their rep. Thousands and thousands of useless posts just sitting there taking up server space.
Then everyone started complaining because it became so slowest, and so the admins decided to upgrade, but didn't want to spend their own money to upgrade it. So they spend the users. No we have so many other options for snowmobile forums it is a no brainer whether to upgrade or not to the paid membership.
You have to be a sucker to pay the $10 IMHO. Just watch backcountryrebels.com will take over the market (and maybe johndee.com will see a bump too as people get displaced
Its too bad there was lots of good info on the site...
