Certainly a sad situation, and you feel for the family, but no helmet???? Come on...I have a real hard time feeling sorry for somebody when they don't take the necessary steps to minimize the chances of this kind of stuff happening. Without knowing all the details, it's impossible to say if a helmet would have saved his life, but I'm betting he would have stood a better chance of surviving if he had one on.

After reading my previous post, I can see how what I was trying to convey came across as insensitive. I certainly meant no disrespect, and I do feel sorry for the victim and those left behind. I posted purely on a kneejerk emotion after reading the story, and for that I'm sorry. It just really bugs me when something like this happens to a fellow rider and the steps weren't taken to help minimize the risk. May the family eventually find comfort in knowing this young mans passing came doing something he truly loved, and my prayers continue to be with you today just as they were when I first heard of the tragedy.
