Iowa Snowmobilier Hurt in Accident

Hey people i need your help. Today is the second time since I have been doing this trail report that I really do not give a **** about trail conditions or trying to entertain those of you that read my site. I guy I know from Iowa, Dave Fisher, was the person who was hit by a truck on Military Hill Monday night. He was sitting on the trail waiting to cross the hwy. A truck left the roadway and hit him head on in the snowmobile trail. He was air flighted to marquette where he had surgery to repair a tear to his aorta in his heart. He remains in ICU there. The family is asking to keep Dave in your prayers as he is going to have a long recovery.

This is the part of owning the bar and becoming friends with you people that really sucks. It really hurts when I hear of one of you getting hurt.

Be careful out there and please keep Dave and his family in your prayers.

Just to clarify, this person was ON the trail. There is a section where the trail runs the side of the road. As it was reported on the news, the driver of the vehicle saw headlights, thought it was another car in their lane, swerved to avoid it and ended up hitting the two snowmobilers waiting on the trail by the road.

So this should be in no way associated with the off trail problem at Military Hill.

Prayers go out to Dave and his family.

Thanks for clarifying John. I probably should have stated that in my post.

This is not a Military Hill Issue.
The trail crosses a fair amount of distance before the bridge AND the designated trail runs along the rail of the bridge.
This is the truckers fault.
Horrible situation but, I hope, the "results" of the incident come out right!
in other words, not another crazy snowmobiler taken out by a truck.

Hoping for the best possible recovery for Dave, prayers for him and his family.

Always good to try and have an "out" when near the roads & crossings, and leave some space in front of you and fellow sledders while waiting to cross a road, no need to be "bumper to bumper".

Wheres military hill?I keep reading about it. I know the area very well but can't place it.

It's part of the large valley created by the Ontonagon River just south of Mass City and about 10 miles north of Bruce Crossing. It is the area where the highway drops down into the river valley. The snowmobile trail goes through the valley as well.
