Snowmobilers and Casinos

In my observations of snowmobile blackjack players, I have found them to be fairly large bettors and pretty good tippers for the dealer, at least in comparison as to what most of the locals bet. As a whole, I have not found them to be much better of a blackjack player than other players, but they do seem willing to put the money out there.

The game of blackjack has a high variance so very seldom you end up at what is suppose to happen on average. I won't sit down at a blackjack table unless I'm willing to risk at least $500, and on any several day trip I always bring thousands.
Oh yeah? Where do you usually stay?

It is generally not a good idea to disclose where one plays blackjack. I will say at one time or another I have played blackjack in every casino that offers it in the U.P. with the possible exception of Hessel, MI where I believe they offered blackjack for only a short time. I also played all the casinos at one time or another in the northern half of WI, and a couple in MN. Think basically north of highway US-29. To be fair, I should say at some of these places I played in their old casino before they built their new one. I have yet to play in the new Legendary Waters Casino just outside of Bayfield, but did play in their old shack of a casino they had.

Some of the other casino destinations I have played are Las Vegas, Tunica, Laughlin, Wendover, and Deadwood. If you live in central WI there are many good opportunities to take charter flights to both Laughlin and Wendover. Flights are non-stop and fares are quite cheap. If you give them some decent action future flights are often comped or get half rate fare.

Here is a tip for anyone flying into CWA airport in Mosinee. If you take your boarding pass stub to Ho-Chunk casino in Wittenberg they will give you $50 in free play. You have to have a players card, but that is easy to get. Nothing else to do or buy except play your free play. I always pick video poker for my free play. By the way, the Ho-Chunk casino in Wittenberg does not have live blackjack, just machine play. I should qualify this tip with they offered this promotion last fall. I don't know if they still offer it.

My final tip avoid all 6:5 blackjack. Don't see it much in the upper Midwest, but its all over Las Vegas and Laughlin. Check the rules before you sit down.

Can you disclose if you ride snowmobile?

My crew typically starts and ends our trips at a casino stay. Always blackjack, and usually win enough to pay for the trip plus. We all get killed in Vegas and do well at the indian casinos, go figure. Solid basic strategy unless drunk! Hitting Ho Chunk in Black River Falls the next couple of days.
