I got my outside chores done both sat and sunday before noon. Then I enjoyed my fat man paradise! 72 degrees and 48% humidity. I spent a little extra money to get a very efficient HVAC system. Went with Carrier Greenspeed and I sure have been happy with it. It has some amazing features. I am kinda a geek about that kinda stuff along with the weather.... Anyway I thought i would show you guys what it cost me. Will be neat in the winter to track this stuff as well. Its a new house so it is very well insulated and what not but still no blinds on the windows. That is figuring .13 per kilowatt hour. Not bad for two days in the mid 90's eh?

For me, after a total of 0 Heating Degree Days (HDD), 530 Cooling Degree Days (CDD) and 651 KwHr in May ($2.63/day),
now for the first 6 days in June, 2017 at Phoenix, AZ ($4.33/day so far):

With summer rates like this:
20.960¢/KwHr (12 noon to 7PM) and 2.601¢/KwHr (7PM - noon),

I run my AC at full tilt from ≈ 8AM til noon, then shut it off until 7PM, effectively "banking coolth" in the morning (at ≈ 2.6¢/KwHr) Then the house slowly heats up until the AC kicks on again at 7PM.

My daily "on peak" tally (at 20.96¢/KwHr) is generally a mere 2-3 Kwhr, enough for the computers, entertainment center, refrigerator and a few lights.

My average cost per Kwhr so far this month: 12.18¢,
in about the same ballpark as slimcake's ".13 per kilowatt hour"!

With a "Balanced billing plan, I paid $80/mo. from Feb 2013-Dec 2015 (nearly 3 years!) and $98/mo. since. And that's with plain old single-pane leaky casement windows.
I wonder what I could do if I replaced them with some decent windows!
Or maybe I should use this devilish 'cuz I guess I'm used to the heat!

(Although I 'druther not break our all-time record of high of 122°F, set on June 26, 1990!).

Its 1780 sq ft on the first floor with a walkout basement. Nash you live there. Don't feel sorry for ya. I would melt in heat like that.... No thanks!! I don't care what it costs me I am going to be comfortable in my own house! Actually asked the HVAC guy for a bid on a minisplit for AC in the garage even... 1750 sq ft garage so its going to take a bit to cool that baby....
