Just for grins I spent some time on craigs crap....looking for vintage sleds to see what's out there. Man there is some nice stuff sittin around in Indiana that can be had for a song!

Somebody should tell you that those old sleds didn't need much snow... if any at all to get around. Simple technology, and fun to play with.

They didn't weigh a ton either....well most didn't. Get one cheap enough to leave north and have a play thing even if you only use it once a year.

My vintage sled has 4 miles in the last TWO years. Canceled WOBLE 2 years in a row and the vintage rides here have had no snow either.

Getting awful close to chucking it all and go to Florida next winter. :-(

I love my vintage sleds got my phasers both 89s one ski whiz. 3 moto skis and a snow jet all running condition there my low snow sleds the 2 phazers are the only ones that still need restored. Less than 1000.00 for all sleds... I love my old iron because they are plain and simple and easy to fix when u hit a typical Indiana stump. In fact ill be riding them tomarrow in the wonders of 2 inches of Indiana fun till we leave wensday for da u,p and Wyoming in 3 weeks

With this weather, riding and tinkering with my late '70s vintage sled is the only snowmobile related activity I've been able to enjoy this year. And so far its been a blast. I had been looking for just the right sled for a few years on CL and finally found it this summer. Working on these old sleds is fun and easy. And getting parts online has been surprisingly simple and inexpensive too. Every week is like Christmas, waiting for the latest part I ordered to be delivered. This week its new brake shoes.:) We pulled out all our '70s clothing we have in the back of our snowmobile closet. And I no longer easily fit in my old size medium jacket. Who knew? Cool! Now I have another project, finding just the right vintage jacket on Ebay. Its been like reliving my childhood, but with unlimited funds. And I still have less then $600 invested in the whole project. Later this morning after breakfast, I'll pop the new brake shoes on and test it out with the inch of snow we just got on the lake, with a big smile on my face.:D
