Drove from Calumet up to Copper Harbor, then tried to drive up Brockway mtn - blocked by trees down everywhere. Then tried driving from Copper Harbor to Eagle Harbor...had to turn around eventually because the roads were covered in rocks from flooding and downed trees. Pretty cool storm. Saw a ton of Keweenaw County DOT out on the roads trying to clean up at the height of the storm - I was very impressed with them.

Couldn't get the image thingy here to work for some reason:

Living in Chicago/Milwaukee area you never hear much about storms of October and November...TV just does not talk about it. Living in Vilas TV weather does the Northwoods & UP plus Chicago/Milwaukee overview.

Well, the Fitzgerald went down in a storm like that so I'm thinking we need something bigger than an Ore carrier.

The storm (wave height) was significantly more in the storm that sank the Edmund Fitzgerald. Here's a copy and paste of
A report of wave height by a ore carrier that left shortly after the Fitzgerald.

The highest estimated wave reported by Arthur Anderson's captain was 35 feet. The Anderson was struck by two large waves, about 6:30 p.m. that night, according to captain Jessie B. Cooper.
