I got an e-mail that stated someone tried to log into my johndee account and got locked out because they made five attempts using the wrong password. I need to cancel this one and get a new one.

I got the same thing about a week ago. Said someone had tried to login & enter the wrong password, I just ignored it. Nothing has happened.

So far I have been lucky. I am currently using 4 different IP addresses and have never had that happen to me....Now I did it. I probably just jinxed myself.

I wouldn't change your account..What is the worst that could happen if they did get into your account? Come post a ridiculous reply or start a lame thread? No big deal :)

I wonder if it was a spammer hoping to post a link to viagra or something..

Most folks use the same usernames and passwords for multiple sites. I must admit I do that sometimes myself.....

Attacking a smaller, more vulnerable target like John dee is easier than directly hacking amazon or chase.
