John, just catching up on things here. The journal segments about Huck were beautifully written but boy, was it a tough read. There was no point in trying to fight the tears.

Your sense that some dogs are just extra special is so true. Whenever I think about the dogs we’ve lost I realize that I still miss them all but in some cases the bond between human and dog develops to a whole new level. We have a 14 yr. old Terrier that is my “special buddy” and I don’t even want to think about not having her around, even though I know she is in the twilight of her life.

You and Huck go back a long way and it’s totally understandable that this loss is especially tough. Hopefully it helps to know that there are many people here that understand just how tough it is.
