Click on the link and read the entire post....'careless operation' is at the discretion of the officer and in the post he indicates they stopped to warn them to stay right...due to all the accidents that were occurring in turns......they did not write any tickets, but could

Okay...what am I missing here? There is no centerline rule that I know about....unless they just passed something I missed in my snowmo training classes in 1968...

Under control is the key thing. Even though they took the corner a bit wide, so what? This was on flat ground and it is most likely that they could see around the corner to know that nobody was coming, and in which case they can use up the whole darn trail if they want to.

While the flat foot got to ring out the sled a bit to "catch that varmint" I didn't see the guy he chased down, do anything wrong....and he even stopped sooner than I expected with a wimpy siren that might not be heard, but probably the rear view mirrors which are NOT mandatory (does anyone know why?>?) likely helped to see the flasher going.

So what was the educational event that occurred??? Never try to go faster than the osipher...who gets to ride for free??

Do tell me now....

I've been thinking the same thing. Hope the cop had a nice day of "fishing".

I only post the above b/c I found it informative on SledMI. I only know LawDog through the website but he seems to be a good officer and nice guy (again judging only off what he has posted online) There are others on the site that ride with him often. As fredster said if you read the link above it was posted for education about what they look for. You will see I question about the "centerline rule" as did other on the site.

I mean most riders don't set out to be "THAT GUY" that you meet on a corner but how may times do we see post on here the "some a.. almost hit me". I personal wonder how may times that "that guy" has felt he was in control of his sled and went on and never thought about it again. Everyones level of risk is different and what I would consider a close call you my not or vice versa. So the way I took what LawDog was trying to do was remind people of that thought education.

This was on flat ground and it is most likely that they could see around the corner to know that nobody was coming, and in which case they can use up the whole darn trail if they want to.
One of the guys asked the same question and this was the response: found on the top of page 2

Everyone will agree that staying on your side of the trail, especially in a corner, is just the smart thing to do, but is there actually a law written that can be enforced about this??

From what I saw in that vid, the corner has low snow banks and it would be really easy to see if someone was coming from the other direction. (Not a superman here, but I tend to look thru a corner to see whats coming my way if at all possible.)

Plus it looked like the two guys you took off after were going rather slow as they entered & exited the corner. (Most likely the reason for just giving them a warning and not a ticket.)

PB...

Its actually a very blind corner.. trees and high banks.. No way you can see whats coming...

Yep the reason for no ticket was they slowed way down... But still a bad spot to be. The second guy at one point was looking back down the trail for the rest of the group and didnt watch in front of him...

Not bashing these guys, but just want to show how much of an issue it really is... This is just one of many groups that did this....

Again I was only posting this to share the info. I thought it might save someone a ticket or something worse.
