Was there not a thread on here at one time, about being able to remove the bearing on the speedo side without removing the skid? if this is true and able to be done let me know, Thanks.

I've done it, a REAL P.I.T.A., used a pitman arm puller (for a car) to remove bearing, another pita to beat it on.(the press isn't all that tight)

Unless you're stuck doing it in the parking lot or out on the trail, I'd HIGHLY recommend to do it the right way by removing the skid

That way you can inspect all the rear suspension shafts, bogey wheel bearings, shafts, etc.

Well I have done all 4 bearings approx. every 5000 miles as Polaris recommends. Sled has 15K .... Helps keep you on the trail and not in the shop.

Anyways..normally when this has to be done the chain case needs to be removed which will slide off that side of the shaft. As the others said the other bearing is pressed on and we use a hammer drill to remove the bearing off the shaft. To press on you can use a variety of ways using your bench vise.

Google it. Videos out there that help.

Good Luck !

Did this project in the parking lot of Americinn in Minocqua 3 yrs ago wouldn't recommend it. But if it means sitting or riding then I would do it again. and you only need one wrench, a good punch and a hammer to do it.
