Starting Fogged sled...

I just bought a 02 xcsp 500 and the guy fogged it the last time he road it. I'm wondering if there is a certain procedure or any tips on starting it for the first time.

Thanks much
Dan

Clean off the spark plugs with starting fluid and spray a little into the cylinder - but not to much. It may run and die a couple of times but it should get it going. This is in additioan to fresh gas, battery charged, etc.

Never had to add any starting fluid to the motor, and usually I leave the old plugs in there to burn out the oil first, as they may foul if fogged properly.

If fogged properly, and gas is preserved with Stabil or whatever the choice, nothing necessary other than starting sled and letting it run to full warm up. I've never had a fouling problem of any sort relating to fogging. If you have any worries, invest 5 bucks into a couple of fresh plugs AFTER you've started the engine and run the fogging oil out of the cylinders.

The other thing I do (and no funny comments) is blow into the tank to get the carb bowls full of fuel. The 1000cc's pull like a b i t c h when cold and oil on the cylinder walls. They always started 1st or 2nd pull.

awesome!! lol Thanks everyone for the advice. It sounds like there isn’t much to it. I was afraid it was a huge pain in the ••• but it sounds like just getting it going to full warm up and pop new plugs in it afterwards.

Thanks again.

Hey dan why did you buy a xcsp 500 when I personaly watched you buy a brand new IQ 600 last year in Marquette? I think it was Dan's polaris as a matter of fact. Hmm, get back to me on that one.. Maybe you realized the IQ was better suited for your girlfriend

If the fuel is shut off,••••• may have been run until it died,..which is what I do. I pull the plugs and clean them and then it over w/o them in the engine 15-20 times to pump the carbs full. Put the plugs in and choke it,...should start right up. I got this tip from this site,••••• really help the ol arm.
