I was just going to post this - my son just told me it's on the police dept facebook page. Snow removal equipment is down.
They've also posted a Blizzard Warning, with more snow still to come. This is the winter snowmobiler's have been dreaming of.

This is from eau claire Wi. We are truly bad here. If you are north and need to head home south on Interstate 94 hunker down and wait. The wind is supposed to die down tonight, and it is very bad outside. You would never know a main county road is right by my house. It's buried under 2 to 6 ft of snow. Everything is focused on the interstate that is currently moving at 10 mph. I took the sled to look. So if you can wait please wait. God Bless.

I had thought about posting a thread last eve about how brutal, and dangerous this storm looked to be with the very bad wind. I decided I didn't want to cry fire, and be wrong. Watched this thing moving and developing yesterday. Very scary conditions for sure. Be careful and don't try and do something stupid. First responders have enough problems already!

Not finding this on Facebook or anywhere else. May I ask where you got this info?

Son sent me a copy of the notice from Mark Vander Bloomen. Eagle River Chief of Police, Facebook page. Too labor intensive to post here.

I received a notice from ER Snow Eagles club saying no emergency for them but will be several days to get the 3 groomers out, just to get trails in GOOD condition. Direct quote

All Points Bulletin: All Bartenders Report to Work. Repeat, All Bar Keeps, mandatory work day
In all seriousness, don’t go out if you don’t have to. From what I’ve seen online, it looks bad!

I pulled this off the Eagle River Police FB page;

CITY OF EAGLE RIVER DECLARES A STATE OF EMERGENCY.
Everyone is being advised to stay home and avoid traveling anywhere in the city until further notice.
The heavy snow fall coupled with mechanical issues with snow removal equipment has caused the city to declare a state of emergency. High winds beginning later today is going to add difficulty to the problems our public works crews are already dealing with.
Please stay home and don't make their already difficult task any more complicated or dangerous due to stranded vehicles to deal with.
Please pass this along.
Mark J Vander Bloomen
Chief of Police

Between the two winter storms we received this weekend and the large amounts of snow, driving is not recommended. Please stay at your residents and allow the highway crews to clear the roadways. If travel is needed please allow time to get to your destinations. Check on your neighbors and elderly. Check your exhaust vents for your furnaces so that they are clear for venting. Roads are not good for traveling. Be safe.

Nothing but severe high winds, and flooding down here snowbuilder. Now it's all froze up and turned to ice. My post referred to what I was feeling for all the folks in Ia, Minn, Wis, and the U.P. as I watched the storm move, and develop strength yesterday. Very dangerous situation with these severe winds blowing all the snow. Rural emergencies are especially difficult in these weather conditions. I salute all the first responders, and what they go through, no matter the situation!

And yes, way too many idiots on all the roads no matter the weather! Seen a 2 car accident, with 1 car upside down, in town, dry pavement, in a 30 mph zone? Unreal!

In my daily routine at work I flick the tv on each morning around 7am at breaktime to watch the morning news to see the latest accidents where cars end up wrapped around a pole, upside down, split in half or slammed into a building in 25 mph zones in Milw. "Inner City"

I hear all that. Amazing is about all one can say about this. The day we seen the 2 car accident, as we were on our way to eat lunch at Culver's, but then decided to go to Hy Vee, and have lunch while there. While eating, we watched the local news on the tube, and they showed that some dumb --- had just run a car through the front of the grocery portion of the Hy Vee store. Unreal! The whole car was inside the building. How fast can one go in a packed parking lot? It's happening all the time as it seems.

It is only getting worse. Hwy 53 south of Osseo closed! Interstate 94 closed to accident south of Eau Claire. Winds are getting worse not better. Will post pictures tomorrow.

We passed through on I-94 at 5:30 am today. Must have been 100 vehicles in ditches from Eau Claire to Osseo. Road was still terrible, ice.

They are seriously going to have to close I-94 to clear all those vehicles, semis.
