You can wait for steak or you can be eating hamburger. I will take the hamburger. The upside of this down turn is the "Hackers" are going out of business. Kinda cleansing the trades so to speak. If your good the work finds you. Humble yourself and shake some branches. Don't leave money on the table, get in the door, do the job and sell them the next project they want before you leave. Barter works too. Make it happen.

Been otta work since oct 5th. In the 150's on the book. Ive worked a whooping 8 months in 2 years as a electrician in the madison area. kinda looks grim to me. I know alot of guys who have sat for there company's instead of signing the book and they've had just as much or more time off than i have, or worked alot of 20 hour weeks also. What a diference a few years can make huh my first 14 years i prolly had a total of 6 months layoff. Last 2 years have been crap.

I did have some work find me though. I had a builder ask me to do a project for him but required me setting up my own bussiness and will require a 2 hour commute each way or staying in a hotel But its work i guess. Now if it would just finally start instead of hearing every week thats its delayed a week i'd be happy.

In times like now a guy's gotta do what he has to do to survive.

I don't get it? Set up up your own business and run with it. I know we covered this all in past posts and I have upset some. I make my own money and suggest everyone do the same. Factory mentality is rampant. Anyone can work hard, not everyone can work smart. Ask yourself, "What do I need to do, to live like the guys with money in my town". Duplicate if you have to. Money makes money and run with the money crowd. Watch and learn from the guys making it. You don't have to spend with them, just learn what they do. It has worked for me. Micro manage your life to the extreme. I know that My company lost $110 last year in tile spacers, down registers, spilled in the truck, etc. and I am aware of it. Every penney passes my desk and is accounted for. Hang out your shingle and run with it. Never look back. Bigger the risk the bigger the gain. I am currently working on opening a Harley/ sled repair shop in my town. Huge need for it. Take risks!!

Waiting another week for my project to start in South Milwaukee at a bridge over a river. We will take out the concrete channel in the river and return it to its natural stream bed state while installing a pretty new bridge. ARRA at work.

On Wed it will be exactly one year.
Before that I had only been off a total of a month or 2 in 25 years, and much of that was in the past 2 years. Had never even signed the books before this. The local list is now well over 800 and in one year I moved from 375 to 150.
