stray cats

how do I get rid of stray cats?

I am guessing there are about 4-6 strays around our house and they keep pissing and crapping everywhere. They do not have a color on any tags on them. I have asked a couple of the neighbors if the cats belong to them and every one has said no and a couple have also commented how they do not like them.

Unfortunately I live in the cites so the 22 is not an option, even though I have thought about it many times!

we trap wild cats around our area.we live in the country so we could shoot them but instead we live trap them and take them to the humane society and they spay or neuter them and notch an ear so we can tell which ones have been done and release them again.they help keep the rodent population down and they deserve to live too.do you shoot animals and just let them lay?if your not gonna eat it let it live.otherwise they should open a season on people who crap the place up that we don't like.just my 2 cents.lol

Remember when WI passed a law stating it was ok to hunt stray cats an Gov Doyle veto'd it. Evidently there are a lot of people her in WI that think it is ok to hunt cats.

My neighbor would like to take a shot at me. Because I don't rake leaves everyday like he does, he tells me it's about time. I look up in the trees and say, nope I still see a few more have to fall.

Retired people have nothing better to do than worry about smit that doesn't matter.

Get one of those pump up squirt guns
that kids have in the pool and fill it
with a weak ammonia mix,
a few times with that and they will
stay away.
Works on dogs, geese and I have heard
its good on deer.

A 22, a role of duct tape, and an empty 2 liter pop bottle. Attach 2 liter pop bottle to muzzle of 22 using duct tape, proceed to take out any stray critters, , , neighbors won't know a thing. :)

I have heard about the humane society doing this.

Correct me if I am wrong.......the humane society is funded by taxes (I am not sure if it's state our county, my guess county). I would much rather have one extra cop, firefighter or teacher then a humane society worker "fixing" cats and then releasing them. Personally I believe that is a waste of tax payers money. just my 3 cents.

No I do not nor would I kill a animal and just let it lay. If one of these cats happens to pass away I would dispose of it properly. If I new it was some ones pet I would not harm it. I have lived in this house for about 7 years and we have never had this problem till this year, so it's my assumption that some one could not or did not want to take care of their pets any more so they released them. In return it has caused a nuisances problem in the neighbor hood.

It appears that I have offended a person or two with my topic. I apologize for that, I have a problem around the house and I was just looking for a few suggestions how to try and solve the problem.

Some people have problems with raccoons, skunks, rats, bats, squirrels or what ever my problem just happens to be cats. Cats that I believe are not some ones pets!

John if you would like go ahead and pull this thread.

Just for the record I did call the city and they said there is noting they can or will do and that is when the gal started to explain to me how they where already understaffed and a problem like mine could not be a priority of theirs (which I understand).

I understand your problem all to well, I was with a rescue group in IL and started a program for stray cats trapped over 300 during my time we fixed released or relocated. The problem is real and HUGE but to read about some peoples way to dispose of cats is just sick to me....I know it happens and I guess the right thing is I just shouldn't read this thread anymore....sorry

For the record,
I think (or at least hope) most of us were far from serious about actually doing it. Sometimes sick humor is just that, sick humor.
Have a GREAT day!

take them to the humane society.
that or round em up and set them loose in the country someplace. if you wanted to kill em, I am sure you could think of several ways to get the job done.
