Stripped Spark Plug Threads

Has anyone used a Time-Sert to repair a stripped spark plug hole?

Not to high jack but couldn't you also just re-thread it with a tap and die set?

To Indy 500: That depends if there is any thread left or if hole is striped clean then you need to put an insert in to replace the metal that was lost when stripped out. A thread insert will work just fine if properly installed. You may have to remove head to make sure metal shavings from tapping new hole do not get into cylinder bore otherwise, disaster.

Time serts are really good repair inserts. Use both and time serts are better than heli coils for most repairs.
