Stud installation

Anyone know what a reasonable price to pay is for stud installation? I'm looking at 96 up the middle on my 2010 600 IQ Shift with the .91 track. Also what size would people recommend? Also, double backers? I had someone tell me $3.00 a hole + cost of the studs. That seemed high. I seem to remember paying $1.00 a stud years ago. Thanks!

just got a quote from my Yamaha dealer on putting 108 signature woodys he quoted me $1.75 per stud for Install and around $200 for the studs thru dealer but i did find the studs for $150.00 from a catalog I thought $1.75 was high so i called around to 2 or 3 more dealers and $1.75 was the going rate.$3.00 for install alone seems a bit high .

$1.50 per stud is going rate. Have you ever studded a track? It is about the most boring thing you will do in your life time. It is just above changing out all your track clips for boring.

Unfortunately I know what your talking about on both accounts..several times over, but I'm a cheap butt.

Measuring studs is tricky unless you stud tracks all the time. From the top of the shoulder ( not the head ) that would only give you .240 about 1/4" of penetration. That sounds OK. I'm confused with your comment on would it clear the tunnel protectors ? You should have MORE than enough room to spare. You shouldn't have studs in line with your tunnel protectors. TP's are normally about 1.000 or greater as a rule of thumb.

I'm not a expert on this track or sled so if you are measuring correctly you should be OK . If the over all lenght of the stud is 1.150 then they will be too short.

'10 Shift 600 w/ 1.075" studs

I ran 96 Woody's 1.075 Gold Diggers with double backers in my '10 Shift 600, worked fine for me.

Here's a shot showing the track studded & tunnel protectors installed.
