Stutter bumps

What I find is following people who think they are hard fast riders are they have heavy track spin out of every corner. Sometimes for one or two hundred feet causing very fast trail detrition. I can stay with them ridding using a rhythm and sticking my track with throttle control not endless track spin. I never raced snowmobiles but did motorcycles and cars and this has always held true.

Get an M-10 or M-20 Airwave. Adjust on the fly. Most bumps go away. It's like cheating :) ! As far as trail preservation, don't spin your track. Throttle jockeys cause the worst damage to a smooth trail, like sixball said above.

Thanks for all the input guys. Whitedust I have a apex with the fat boy spring as I am a bigger guy. It's probably not the best in the bumps but its what I got at the moment. My group and I have started to ride more in the evenings, we find its a little smoother and way easier to see the bumps. I am interested to see what kind of new grooming technology comes out in next 10 years. I hope someone comes up with something that works better. Have a snowy weekend!

Forget about grooming equipment as not the answer you need to get max comfort now. Ok snojoe you are in my wheelhouse setting up an Apex. I take it you have an Apex mono shorty 121 track with mucho studs for hook up with big boy spring. You could extend to 136 but probably not worth the time an effort when you can buy an Apex XTX 144 with EPS that would eat up & spit out any rough trail anywhere. Soooo we need to check your sag in I'm thinking 41- 44 milimeters. Sounds like to me the big boy spring is not going thru max travel thru bumps. Also do your skis stay planted may have to do some other adjustments too to get front & back playing together. Do you know you have a rebound clicker at the rear on the mono shock? Are you hearing clunks when going slowly over big close together bumps we can get rid of that too. If you are getting big time kick & sounds like you are you need to slow down the rebound so start clicking & whala kick will be eliminated & stutters are are cut like butter. The Apex mono can give you an amazing ride but difficult to get set up just right & if you have the Ohlin EC you can further & fine tune on the fly. How many inches did you set the rear spring if under 10.5" you are out of spec might as well be riding a brick. Let me know these specs & we wil get your Apex eating up stutters & big bumps no problem .:)

snojoe,,exactly what whitedust said,,setting up a suspension is like night and day differences. You will be amazed at what it is capable of handling

Some bar napkin math here. We groom 55 miles in central Wisconsin and takes about 14 hours to groom our entire system once. Wisconsin has roughly 25,000 miles of trail. To groom the entire State once would take about 6,364 hours or 265 days.

Luckily, there are more than 500 clubs in the State to spread that work around!

It costs roughly 300-500 dollars a night that we groom. We haven't seen a pay raise in a decade and probably wont for a while. We have a couple great sponsors on our trails that helps with costs. We made an extra effort this year to get new members. It amazes me how many people could give a rip about being a club member but will bow down to the all mighty groomer. Not sure why they cant make that connection.
