Surgery sucks

So I had a hernia operation last Tuesday morning. Had some problems coming out of the anesthesia, and spent the afternoon throwing up. Ended up being admitted overnight, and was released Wed afternoon. I have been taking it real easy since then, but, man, does laying around all fricken day suck! The doc told me I needed to be off work for 2 weeks, and I said, ahh, negative ghost rider. So I was planning to go back to work tomorrow. Well, I was just outside, and decided to see how I felt. So I moved some small logs, less then 20 pounds each, from one part of the backyard to another. Umm, yea, I don't think I will go back to work tomorrow. I have a follow up visit with the doc Tuesday afternoon, so hopefully I will be ready to get back to work Wed morning.

I can't even imagine what John was going through after his MAJOR surgery's!

Well DUH Skylar... surgery is kinda sorta major sheot... anesthesia sickness sucks big time!

Glad that you are doing well - don't over do it! Silly boy.

When you are feeling better, I do have a bunch of logs in the back that need to be split and stacked - if you want something to do!!

Relax, recoup - enjoy the sunshine.

REV IT UPx3!

I had hernia surgery on my left side, back in early fall. Felt a tear about 2 weeks ago, now I have to go in for my right side in the next couple weeks.
Laying around for the first day or two taking it easy is not that bad. Its the 3rd day when it starts getting bad, boring and can't do anything.

Skylar don't over do it, it will pay off in the long run and I'm sure lifting logs must be on the don't do list from the doctor too! Take it easy, Linda

I feel for ya. Have had a few surgeries myself. Our son had double hernia surgery between his junior and senior year in high school 6 weeks before football season was to start. That was a job keeping him down for 6 weeks. Just remember that take it easy now and then it won't have to be repeated and then you would have more down time. Take it easy & take care. You will be up and around in no time.

I had that surgery several years ago and it just takes time. Hang in there. The worse part is sitting around taking it easy. I don't know how people do it. It drove me nuts......

Had Hernia surgery in the spring of 1997. Worst thing I've ever been through. I got sick that evening too. Getting sick with your abdomen muscles sliced is not a fun thing. I feel for ya. It took me at least a couple of months before I felt that I had any strength at all. I know I over did it as well and I paid the price down the road. All I can say is, as much as it sucks, take it easy and don't push it.
Good luck!

One of engineers at work had hernia surgery on April 2nd. He came back to work last week. I nicknamed him "Speed". He moved like Tim Conway's old guy character on the Carol Burnett Show.
If any of you remember that.

I had double hernia surgery my second year in college (that's right, I name them by years because I don't think I was called a sophomore yet). Anyway, it sucked but at least I got the timing right - I had it done the Tuesday before March madness started. I pretty much watched bball on CBS nonstop that Thursday - Sunday.

Had the surgery way back when, when they used medicine men. 14 years old at the time.

Surely was no fun. Take it slow and don't rush it. You will want to ride the ATV this summer!

Thanks for all the advice peeps. I have a follow up visit today at 2:45, we'll see what the doc says.

What I do feel bad about is the fact that without me being at work the other 6 people have to do what they normally do, plus, what I would be doing. I feel bad for them. When running a skeleton crew, there is no such thing as finding someone else to fill the gap. There is no one else. LOL.

I have been able to not take any of the prescribed pain meds (oxycodone), just making do with Ibprofren. I would rather know that I just did something wrong, than not to feel it.
