TekVest

Me, my son and some of my riding buds wear them every time we ride. Highly recommend them.

Same here, wouldn't go out without it. I know it's for protection, but I wear mine for posture. Haven't had a back ache since I got mine. Probably 9 years and counting---love it!!!

Check out sixsixone lots of protection styles. I use core protector with spine protection. It has a back belt but I enhance mine with Ru outside back thing. I like protection that breaths but whatever you buy size with all your gear on. I wear mine under my bibs then my jacket and maybe a fleece on sub zero days. Any protection is going to change your core temp so be aware they do add warmth.

I will never ride again without one! We have the basic TekVest. I advise you go to a dealer who knows how to fit you properly, fitting right is the most important part so you don't even know you're wearing it! I had a bad misfortune accident in Ontario a few years back, without the TecVest I would most likely not be writing this! Get one!

I’m considering buying a tekvest ($380). Does anyone use one or recommend a different brand?

I have a Tekvest Freestyle listed in the gear section. Its an XL. I'll sell it for $150. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you pics.

I bought mine about 6-7 years ago for around $300 dollars I think. If things are similar now as then, you aren't going to find much range in price online for a genuine tekvest. Catching an online sale from somewhere is your best bet for savings on a new one. There were some other brands of vests that are cheaper, but they seemed to lack the equivalent protection and quality of the brand name when I researched them.

My dad (Rayds here) and I both got tekvests after he took a handlebar to the chest on a bad creek crossing attempt at Togwotee. We ended up going to the ER in Jackson just to be checked out for broken ribs, ended up just with bruised ribs. With the tekvest, he may have just ended up with a bruised ego. The cost of the tekvest would have more than made up for the cost of the ER visit and lost snowmobiling time.

I have never looked into buying one but after reading several post I am going to look into one for me and my son. When buying on line how is it measured for large, XL,XXL? Are there dealers in northern Wisconsin or ILL that carries Tekvest?
Thank you!

Thanks for all the input. I was told I could get a different brand on amazon cheaper but it sounds like TekVest is the way to go.

Monroe Powersports in Monroe WI carries them.

I suggest Leone's in Peru, IL. They will fit you properly so you won't even know your wearing it!

My son and I both wear the Klim vest, it becomes just another part of your gear. No real loyalty to Klim other than name brand and is comfortable for us. Pray we never test it.

If you are tall, check out the crossover. It's about 2" taller. I got one and like it. Did not like the fit of the other ones. Seems like you can find decent prices on ebay.

Tek vests run large. I'm 6'2", and have a large. XL was huge on me.

I tried some of the other brands and didn't like the fit.

Klim vests are made by TekVest. Just rebranded, and the exact same as a TekVest model. Doo's, and Poo's also.

I wear a EVS snow vest. I liked the feel of it over the tekvest when I bought it 5 years ago. I believe HMK and 509 vest just an EVS vest with their brand on them.

I also wear a EVS. the older style like the Motorfist one with the zipper in the front. Works good, but its a little short. The new EVS is good though...
