I though I would share this I was working on my friends yamaha vector with a 155 track today anyways replaced some bogey wheels and tighten the track tighter because of some racheting. Then I took it for a test drive I've never really drove a 4 stroke sled before never knew they slowdown and dive so much when you let off the gas plus the track being alittle tight .Well I stood up leaned a little forward and to the left and let off the gas and I fliped right over the hood right on to the road. Was kinda pissed when it happened but I wish I was the old guy in his yard watching me do it.

I hear you Reiley! I had been a 2`s guy up until 2007 when I bought a new Apex GT. My first blast across an open field ended when I backed out of the throttle and nearly flipped over the windshield also. My feet came off of the boards and I was chest deep into the handlebars and windshield until I stopped. Im sure my nephew behind me could see nothing but the bottom of my boots!! Come to think of it my 2010 xp has more engine breaking than I can remember on my older sleds that would coast more when out of the throttle.

Once you get the hang of 4s engine braking on twistys really is a good thing to back off in turn let the engine brake then come out hot & on it again. At least with my Attak it helps me turn & studs down the center help with the hook up no push at all. Also when on grade see stop ahead sign just let engine braking bring your speed down no need to brake at all. Steep downhill let the engine do all the work. All OEMS have been finding different methods to limit engine braking but I like it. Stand up riding takes some effort & skill but still better than pounding your *** thru Silver City.lol

Be sure when you do that stunt jump off the hill that you are in the gas because if you happen to let off as you lauch you may plunge down into the snow like a lawn dart!! lol

Saw something similar several years ago. I watched 8 Iowa boys muscle their sleds off a goose neck flat bed. 1 guy obviously had a clutched, piped and picked new SRX. He was doing his warm up when he got on it, pulled the skiis up a good 3 foot then the engine screamed and the sled slammed down hard and the kid went over the front head first into the hard pack taking the windshield with him. The new clutch came apart and a piece went threw the hood and another piece jambed between the secondary and the steel frame causing the track to lock up. Luckily he bounce back up with only his pride injured and thus "DANG THAT WAS FUNNY!"

Like I'm sure reilley99's performance was to the old guy; I'll have a sledding story I'll never forget and pass on several times over. Those young bucks also left me another very fond funny memory. After having a concern the "old guy" might not be able to keep up, two of them ended up taking out a bridge post but luckily the creek broke their fall (trying to keep up with said old guy.) (between LacLaBelle and Copper) And that was when they had the curve and bridge signs lol.

They do make a clutch kit that takes away a lot of that braking.Pats turned my bud on to it,and made a big difference .

I wonder what it is secondary helix and spring? I was watching it on the stand that secondary closes up really fast

I played with the secondary on my Apex a bit and there are several options without much expense. I did try a different spring, I think it was white or pink and then you have several different holes/positions for spring placement and lastly you can not wrap the secondary as tightly reducing the braking effect also. Just play with the secodary a bit and you can change shifting but keep in mind it is all a give and take.

hey uncle_ed: are you speaking from experience being a lawn dart? LOL almost had my daughter, 99BLUESRX, launch over the windshield the first time she rode my apex! we switched rides on castle rock i told her dont be afraid to get on it , she takes off and goes at least 80 then she backs out, and i see her holding on for dear life , luckily she was going straight , she knew to power back in , but she came back and was screaming at me "you should have told me it slows down fast " my bad !

Did this on the grandkids Kitty Cat. Don't ask.
All I'll say is with my big *** kneeling on it, it will do surprisingly large wheelies, and stop surprisely fast when you panic and let off the gas. My neighbor saw it happen and clapped. Next time I'm putting it in the wheelbarrow to move it from the shed to the garage.

Not quite as bad as this guy but it sure didn't feel Smooth. I did do a quick check to see if anybody else had witnessed a not so gallant stunt jump though!
