Long story - it happens to most snowmobiler's at one time or another. Paid for Gas in Gordon WI and neglected to zip my pocket shut on my jacket. Many miles and hours later I found it was missing. Bummed out - I canceled my Master Card, lost almost $100 cash and my drivers license.

Next day after our ride for the day, I called our home to check voice mail. Some one had called and I should call him back.

After talking to him, he explained that Three Snowmobiliers had found my wallet between Gordon and Barnes. They brought it into the JT's One Stop in Solon Springs (the BP on 53) and left it with him. He called my home, left the message and had the coin purse if I could come and identify it.

Drove to the Station yesterday and got it back. All my money, my Mastercard and my drivers license was still in it! No one knows who these three Snowmobilers were but I cannot thank them enough! So if you read this and you are one of them who returned it - thank you so much!

Similar story

On this New Years Eve, my brother and I were sledding not far from where you lost your coin purse. We were sledding down from Cornucopia to Iron River, WI. When we got to Iron River, my brother realized his jacket pocket was open and his wallet was gone. With a glum look we drove over to the OP (Other Place) to figure out what to do. Within 5 minutes my brother realized he had a message on his phone. My brother went outside (bad reception in Iron River) and came back in....I guy had found it on the trail. My brother spoke to the guy and told him we were at the OP. The guy says he knows the place and will deliver the wallet to him! Needless to say, my brother was suprised and relieved.

I should know the guy's name but I'm bad with names. He was from Chicago and visiting his father that has a place on Long Lake. He showed up with the wallet in hand with no missing contents which is even more suprising because he said he was snowmobiling along and all of a sudden there was money floating around in the air. His dad had run over the wallet north of Iron River about 10 miles. When he ran it over, it spilled out the money and his track must have spit it up in the air. The guy collected it up. Dug through the wallet and found a phone number. The phone number was my brother's father-in-law. He called that, tracked down my brother's number and the rest is history.

My brother has a nice carbide scar on his wallet as a reminder.

Of course we thanked the guy many times and bought him a few at the OP but thanks again "nice guy from Chicago".
