Thanks can go a long way

Came to work this morning only to find a semi trailer stuck in my shop drive. We had 5in of wet snow over night and this guy tried to turn around, why I don't know, My sign at my drive says no truck turnaround, but anyway he attempted and got stuck. called my town administrator and he sent one of his guys out with their big pay loader. All he did was break their 5 inch wide strap. Driver calls in and waits for tow truck. He comes into my shop several times to passs time, I serve him pop and chips as its getting close to lunch time. Finally at 2:00 pm the tow truck arrives and pulls him out as I watch from my window. They get everything settled and off goes the semi driver, gone. What the heck, Couldn't even come in and say thanks a bunch for trying to help and your hospitallity. People, sometime I just don't understand them. Now I go out and finish plowing my drive and fill in some of the holes he left in my stone drive. Sometimes thanks goes along way. Seem like the older I get just a thanks is good enough for me but when you try and don't get that thanks, just peeeses me off. sorry for venting

Seems like thank you has become a taboo word these days. Gratitude goes along way, just don't let it get to you and keep on being the kind of person that you obviously are.

Brother I feel your pain.
Same thing happened to me a while back. I look out my centers front window and a semi is hoplessly entrenched in our newly landscaped ditch leaning on a power line pole.
I go out and stop him from doing any more damage to his rig and my property.
We are a trucking/tranport buisness and just happen to have a big rig tow/hauler.
We fire it up ,stop traffic, set up downriggers,snatchblocks, etc and winch him out
40 min later hes out and the driver unattaches the last hookup.
We hear a tap from his air horn and hes gone.......... ?????
4 employies plus myself and my partner and a quarter million dollar rig involved for better then a hour. Along with a landscaping bill and I get a toot from a air horn????
What ever happend to THANKS and maybe a handshake? This world is changing.

Ya shoulda let him rock it back and forth long enough to knock the power line down onto his truck. Then he'd be stuck there for a while to make him think about it while the utility company did repairs. You guys got hosed, or should I say "horned"?

You know what's funny. I post my "pics from a beer truck" thread on this site and this site only. I get a thanks just about every time i post them. I have never gotten that on any other site so i just stopped. It takes me 10-15 minuetes every time i post them which is fine, it's just nice to know people appreciate my efforts!! Thanks JD for running a site that the good people seem to flock to and the "other kind" are shown the door!!

Sorry I couldn't figure out how to quote it. But I'm with you Todd. Don't know how old you are, but I agree. At my age, a little common courtesy goes a long way. Being neighborly and pleasant deserves, at the very least, a thank you.

I always tell my boys...listen, you don't have to be nice to everybody but you sure as heck need to be polite!! Since they were itty bitty, I've told them the importance of saying their pleases and thank yous! Sadly, I know how infrequently it happens when kids are polite by the reactions of the recipients. I always thought it was cuz I live in an incredibly rude place (no offense, it's just a city) instead of a small town like where I was raised...but...

Sorry that some turkey butt didn't thank you for your time and effort. Ya'd think it would be the LEAST he could do considering you have it POSTED not to turn around in your drive and he did it ANYWAY...and instead of getting all up in his face and making his life the nightmare that it could have been, you were a kind and decent guy who went out of his way to help him out AND make him comfortable!

I live on top of a pretty good hill on a blind sweeping corner, & everytime it snows I get somebody traveling to fast for conditions in my ditch, just about an hour ago there goes a single mother with 2 kids & a dog right in the ditch. She bangs on my door as were sitting down for lunch, so I go out dig the chains out of work truck, put them in the plow truck & proceed to plow out an exit for her in the ditch so I can get the truck in there, that took about 10 min's climbed under her concorde (sp?) & hooked up chains & pulled her out, ther was no way she was going back out the way she came in, she went thru a 5 foot snow bank from my drive. Now she's out, Chains unhooked & off she goes. No thank you no nothing! & I'll do it again I'm sure. A simple thank you goes so far people. Please keep it mind.
