I was unable to find my original post from a few weeks back but just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the suggestions on what to see on the western side of the state. We went to lake of the clouds, porcupine area, bond falls, sturgeon river area, lake gogibic, high rock and some other areas. All of them were great spots. Managed to get 900 miles on even with the temps being rather cold for a day, real cold for a day and down right brutal for two days....lol. Great snow everywhere we went and over all a great week minus the fact of the person I took with me but that is a different story all together and maybe a touch of frostbite. Hope to try and make one more trip in a few weeks with the wife but if not will definitely be on the west side of the state again. And I think I managed to find and thank all of those that helped me find my buddy on Monday but if not I did find him and all was well.

I have only rode with this guy once or twice. He seemed to ride alright. Not as fast a pace as me but that is fine. I let him know before we left that I could care less if he rides slower or faster then me that I always stop at all intersections and stop signs and wait for the crowd to catch up and make sure all is good. We all wait all the time. At lake of the clouds I told him we were going to ride up to trial 11 and go to bergland.Well coming out of Lake of the Clouds I could see I went past the turn off in the woods by a few feet. As I was turning around he took the trail. That was the last time I saw him for a few hours. He blew thru the trail 11 turn off and went back towards white pine. When I got to the 11 turn off and didn't see him I assumed he went towards bergland and was pretty much down to the 102 or 120 turn off when I ran into a few guys on the trail that said they had not seen him. By then I realized he didn't go that way and also realized I didn't have enough gas to search for him and make bergland so I went back to white pine for gas. First I stopped at the 11 turn off again and waited about 1/2 hour or so. When I got to white pine for gas I asked if anyone had been in that had been separated and he said no. So filled up, headed back to trail 11 turn off and waited some more. Then went on to Bergland. Finally had cell service and got ahold of him and that *&^(& went back to Rockland....then he started to tell me that we need to make plans in case we get separated. Like where we should meet....so I ask him where we were going (he said bergland)...I asked him what do I do when we come up to an intersection ( he said stop)...so then I said then why the **** do you blow intersections and keep going and you are not in bergland....{all of this stuff was discussed many times before we even headed north}.As the week went on I realized that this person I should have never taken up north with me but My wife had a hurt leg (and I don't think she would have liked that much cold). And the guy I normially ride with has had some bad surgery's so he couldn't go so the wife asked me not to go by myself. But after this week I will go by myself or not go before I ever go anywhere with this guy again...I found out later that some of the places I stopped when I was looking for him he also had stopped at. I asked how come he didn't tell anyone that he was separated and he said "oh didn't think about it"...lo

Despite your riding partner, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the sites. It's a great area to ride.
