Neenah, Wisconsin:

Lots of tomatoes, but no ripe ones yet, the plants are 5 feet tall and braced.

Cucumbers are gigantic, we've made two batches of pickles thus far, 22 jars.

Beans are mostly a failure, not sure why. Just not producing this year and the plants look healthy.

Banana Peppers and Jalepeno's are numerous. Some I've decided to ripen while others have gone into the pickles recipe.

Between the Rain Barrels and Sprinklers I've been watering daily and we're in good shape.

Mine is weedy.

We didn't plant much this year and couldn't water enough, so we will just get a little for fresh eating.

Tomatoes are small this year. Lots and lots of tomatoes, but they are little buggers. Kinda like the oak tree acorns. Those are already dropping and they are pea sized little things.

My garden report is more a yard report. 18 yr old Aborvititaes are dying a slow death. Everything else is OK. Cut the grass a few times. Good with that.

Rains have not been exactly plentyful here, but, a few varieties of Tomatoes, as well as a number of varieties of peppers all doing well. Just began harvesting some of the Bell peppers & of course the cherry tomatoes are starting to ripen up for the ocassioinal pick & snack. My Green beans were doing real well, until a damn rabbit chewed the leaves off of over 3/4 of my plantings. Seriously, ate all but one or two leaves off right to the stems, 23 years of having a garden there & never a problem. My youngest daughter & my 4 yr old granddaughter just love picking & eating them off the plant, me too! Time to irrabbicate!-Mezz

Had a tough season so far. With the drought, it screwed a few things up. About 10 days ago I noticed bean picking time was approaching fast. Two days later I went out after supper to pick the beans, and to my surprise, every single bean was gone. I have a hunch the nosey neighbor swiped them all. It wasn't like a critter came in and took em either. Just the beans were gone, nothing wrong with the plants!!! WTH??? Onions are nothing to write home about, but doing OK. Planted pumpkins too ealry, they're about ready to be picked already. Lots of squash, peppers of many variety, and tomatoes going crazy.

Mine is a mixed bag, the cucumbers are great, we are giving lots away, the grape tomatoes were looking great until a storm and they were all laying flat on the ground but they are coming back, just starting to get some ripe ones, I have a few pepper plants looking good, but rabbits got my beans, peas, and carrots, the beans are coming back but I did not put up a fence for them to climb on so they are going to be hard to pick. The peas and carrots are a lost cause. My onions were fair. IMG_1794.jpg IMG_1792.jpg IMG_1789.jpg

Tomatoes were good untill the raccoons and the critters ate them. Don't tell me that animals aren't colorblind. I know they can see the color" tomatoe red".

Garden is doin great overall.
Cukes: (4 hills) canned a total of 44 qrts worth of Sweet Pickles, Bread & Butter and Sweet Relish. Have about 6 qrts worth going to one neighbor tonight, should have another 5-7 qrts worth going to other neighbor Sat/Sun.

Red Cabbage - 4 plants went in, got 4 nice heads. All finished
Brocolli - 8 plants in, 6 left : still cuttin flower-etts for freezin. 30 2 person servings in freezer
Califlower - 8 plants in. All finished. 20 servings in freezer, some in pickled veggie jars. Ate LOTS of it fressh and gave away 4 full heads
Brussell Sprouts - 6 plants, All finished. Didn't get ANY. Moles invaded that end of garden and tore up the roots. :-((
Sweet Peppers - 36 plants: Sweet Banana, Yellow, Orange, Red, Green and Purple. All doin great, been eating some, stuffin some, colors are just beginning to change.
Eggplant - 1 Italain, 1 -? (egg shaped). been eating some fried, stuffed and giving some to family. Both are doing great
Celery - 8 plants. 5 left, others were pulled eaten, given some to neighbors and family. Most will be used in my veggie juice later this month and next.
Red and Sweet potatoes - ALL are doing great now that we "evicted" the rabbit. Only dug up a few, very tasty. Most will be left 'till the snow flies.
Acorn squash - (2 hills) coming on like gang-busters. Had to cut MANY blossums. Have about a dozen BIG ones coming along nicely.
OH ya my 70 'mater plants are doing fantastic. 48-Romas: my main canning tomatoe, lookin to get at least 65 qrts. 20+ heiloom plants (neighborhood lady gave me a full flat) should get my 20 qrts for veggie juice and what not.

Yeup I spend the summer in my garden and canning in the kitchen. My wife enjoys the end result. we give away alot for gifts.
I do barter for some tilling, fish and venison, when I'm short. Works for me...

Is it time for the snow yet ?
