The Packers Playoff Thread

I just HAVE to chirp in with 1 more comment...the Packers have to have absolutely the dumbest SOB on the face of the entire planet as a DC...literally EVERYBODY either in the stadium or watching knows the ball HAS to go to the end zone last play of the 1st half...why the H*** wouldn't you have 2 or even 3 guys back at goal line playing "center field" as it were? Tell me that and I might retract...NOT

Actually, the last play of the 1st half was the GB kick-off returner taking a knee. Which I thought was stupid. Your team is down, you need points, so you take a knee? How can you win if you take a knee? I know the odds are not in favor of a TD on a kick off, but there could have been a penalty which would have allowed one last play, perhaps a Hail Mary or even field goal attempt. Even more importantly, taking the knee shows everyone that you are playing to not lose and we all have seen how that goes in football.

Lots of mistakes made in that game, players, coaches and refs. Still a fun game to watch!

Nothing better than two great QB's going head to head.

Brady gets my vote for GOAT. 55 Super Bowls and he will have played in nearly 20% of them.

clearly you've never seen or special teams play.
Nothing. Nothing good comes out of us trying to return a punt or kick off. Everytime the opposing team kicks in thru the endzone I breath a sigh of relief.

I quit watching at the half. Glad I did. That being said, Brady is the GOAT QB for sure, especially if he and the Bucs wins the super bowl

I agree, the offense couldn't have done anything on the last play of 1st half. What was there, 4s left?
That was a huge mistake by King on coverage, & play call by Petine. Gut wrenching way to end 1st half..I was amazed they got back in it in 2nd half.
Luck is on Brady's side, no matter how he plays. He had a couple good drives, but rest was subpar. More so of Packers D shooting themselves.
As Packer fans, loosing in Championship games has been the norm, so not much surprises there.

Been a fun year. So glad they could provide great entertainment on such a terrible year! I was amazed NFL was able to pull it off relatively clean..

Meh,,,
Ton's of respect for Brady he is the GOAT. Yesterday they won inspite of him. Should of thrown 4 picks if Redmond doesn't drop the one at end of 1st half.
If Buc's lose that game it's a different narrative today about how Brady is too old, can't carry a team to SB,,, etc,,, etc,,.

Let see Brady take the Jets to the SB instead of a team that isn't loaded with talented. But you gotta give it to him he's back in the SB.

My Packers did not show up to win a championship. I saw this with the opening kick off. Mind boggling.
We all saw stupid coaching and player decisions that weren't there in any other games this season.

Totally agree (except they are not my team, I don't have one in the NFL).

I rushed my first post, so probably did not make my point, which was you cannot play to not lose. You HAVE to play to win. Timo, you are right, I do not follow the Packers close enough to know what the statistical results of their punt/kick off returns are. But they are not playing fantasy football. It's the real deal. Forget about stats and concentrate on the job at hand. The difference between fantasy football and the real thing is there are minds of each player in the game not just bodies and physical ability. Telling them to take a knee only reinforces the idea that they CANNOT do it. Not only the returner has their confidence ripped apart, but the whole team feels it. I have no idea if you played sports and if so, at what level, but a huge part of a coaches job is to set the mental theme for their team. To instill them with confidence and the will to give their best, no matter what lies ahead of them. I have had the pleasure to have sit-downs with a coach at the professional level 2 GM's at the pro level and several coaches at the division 1 college level. All of them said this very thing. I did not make it up.

So sure, the odds of scoring any points in that kickoff just as the first half ended were low, but not zero. Taking a knee told me they were scared of something (likely fumbling). Very difficult to win if you are scared and lacking confidence. Rodgers is a great QB, but it seems like game after game, the result of the game is hung on his back.

My 2 cents.

You are correct to say Brady had a lot of talent around him which makes a difference, but I don’t think you could put Mahomes on the jets and get anything done either.

I don't think the score really shows how poorly both teams played! I hate Brady, but he is undoubtedly the GOAT! I can't have another argument about supporting cast, coaching, vs his individual play. They are inseparable and part of the total package that makes him great. This "last" effort of his should stop the argument.

Packers really played bad on all sides of the game. Uncharacteristically weak offensive play calling and poor decision making by Rodgers. Then very poor defensive play calling and HORRIBLE play by King! To be graced with 3-picks from Brady and still loose the game.... Look in the mirror. You played really bad football all over the place. Brady was the best thing to happen to the Packers in this game!!!!

Anyway! Looking forward to big changes in D, looking forward to Matt LaFluer learning from his mistakes, looking forward to helping Aaron get one more before he moves on or retires!

Hello to all! It's been some time since I've posted. This is my observation, that comes to mind after the Packers loss. First I'm in great remorse to the Packers loss, no way around it. However this thought came to my mind. More than a few years, football seasons ago, Rodgers had the "magic", eh? I have no idea how many games I had gave up on them winning, only to have him, Rodgers somehow pull out a amazing, all but impossible win! Some I had quit watching! Then I was upset, eh! He just had the "magic" factor I believe. However now it seems it is gone? And now, after watching Mahomes for a few years, I truly believe he now possesses that kind of "magic". It is unbelievable as to what Mahomes can do with the football! Yes he is very "game smart", and has unbelievable talent! He believes in himself, and his whole team. Over many years, I have loved to watch many QB's such as the likes of Rodgers, Brady, Favre, Montana, and oh so many others. How ever the real amazing ones always come to the top of their performance abilities when needed. Now Mahomes is giving me that same enjoyment. Yeah, well, as The Lovin Spoonful song says, "Do You Believe in Magic"? I surely do, and Mahomes has got it! Perhaps as a "wise" old friend always told me, "it's better to be lucky than good any day, eh! And so, I say so what!

My $0.02 on the game...D Coordinator at fault for not putting in the right prevent D there at the end of 1st Half. Inexcusable and perhaps the reason he was let go in Cleveland.

Second, you go for it on 4th down at the 7/8 yard line down by 8 points. Field goal does nothing cause you still need a TD.
Worse case scenario, you don't covert, TB has ball at own 7/8 yard line. D makes a stand, use timeouts, get ball back at midfield.
To take the ball out of an MVP's hands is just dumb.

This comes from a Bears fan that did not want to see another super bowl with Tommy in it!

I admire Brady for what he has been able to achieve. However, I would love to see Mahomes, and the Chiefs, thrash Brady, and the Bucs big time! Brady better play a whole lot better than he did against the Pack when going against KC!

More than one of the Packers players and the coaches mentioned how great it will be to have a NFC Championship game at Lambeau and cold weather for the game. Guess what, neither the stadium nor the weather plays football! The team seemed to forget that. You have to play the game!
