The Price of Having Fun

This happened to a bus company in our area. They not only stole the converters but they used the owner's outlets to plug their saw in.

There are some out there that are cutting off the catalytic converters off of vehicles, doesn't matter where they are. Ballsy to say the least.
My company, Altec, produces truck mounted utility equipment so at any given location around the country we may have hundreds of chassis on the ground. The amount of catalytic converters we have to replace is ridiculous. We've just discovered 9 trucks with them missing at my location, its going to cost us $26K to get them all fixed. In the meantime, we can't find enough people to fill all of our open jobs.

I'm about 800-1000 miles from whatever spot you might pick in the western UP, so sled trips are always painful in gas cost. My last and final trip was the last full week in February, and gas in the truck and sled combined was just a hair under $1K for the week. Took two other trips very similar earlier this season, so I've paid my penance at the pump, that's for sure. About 6K miles per year put on my truck for this addiction.

I have a profession that allows me the time and extra green to burn on sledding (plus an easy-going and understanding wife), but if it gets say over $7 I think I would just look for a place to stay up there for three or four weeks straight during the season.

Haven't even seen the prices skyrocket for everything shipped via truck because of diesel price increases to truckers OR cost of produce because of Nitrogen shortage and price increases$$$
