Sure, the northwest flow is great for all you lake effect snow hogs, but the rest of us in the Midwest would like to see a few more flakes of snow sometime yet this winter.....enough already, share the wealth would ya?? LOL..
Been in the deep freeze for 3 weeks now, it warmed up for this wknd but isn't mustering up any system snow. Back in the freezer again in 5 days without any snow in the forecast. :(

John, what say you?

Well, since you asked. While everyone loves a nice big storm to roll through the region, it is usually good news for some and bad for others as they bring heavy snows to some and rains to others. Such was the case with the event yesterday and last night. Places in N. IL, SE WI, N. IN and much of lower MI took a hit with rains.

So quite frankly, once most of the region has a fairly decent snow pack on the ground, then a NW flow is probably the best set up to have, as it brings occasional light snow and also keeps temps cold enough to preserve the snow that is on the ground.

With that said, this most recent NW flow was unusual in how bitter the cold was that it brought down. Most NW flows will bring single digits and teens for highs to the Northwoods, with lows a bit below zero. Temps in your neck of the woods of around the low 20's for highs, with lows in the single digits and teens.

Your right on with that John. Came home yesterday to find water running into basement from outside, due to rain and ice dams. No damage, just pain in the butt!
