"Thumping" coming from belt?

I get this "noise" while breaking hard, (no locked up track) or coming down a steep grade. I first noticed it this weekend. First noticed it while traveling at a higher rate of speed (60 + ) & coming to a stop or sharp corner. Almost sounds like when you shut a turbo down while on "boost" Clutches have been rebuilt as of feb 1st.
Sled is a 03 poo rmk 800. My first thought was something with the exh valves, but checked those & they seem to be ok. Sled just turned 2000 miles last weekend. Any thoughts on this one? Shoot this was suppose to be in TECH TALK. Any mods around to change this, or are they all @ Togwotee?

Tried another belt, however not sure on the age of belt. No track change, no noise under extreme accelaration like a loose track does "racheting" . Snow melting fast need to figure this out before she goes into storage. I'll keep plugging away at it. Thanks everyone.

I am assuming you have done a thorough visual inspection of the track. If your track is coming apart all kinds of interesting noises can happen. Your sled does not have that many miles but it is older. Time is just as hard on some components as miles. If you have done that and found nothing then the first thing to do is put a NEW belt on it. Not another used one. You probably took the used one off for a reason.

my money is on a flat spot on the belt. had that happen to me after using a pine tree for some additional traction......

check your chaincase tension and look at the little nubs inside your track the the drive cogs turn the track with...make sure they are not getting chewed up or cracking

My $ is on the track tension is too loose or like was said earlier you may already have broken a few nubs off the track and there is slippage on cogs, or you have some broken, worn out, or misalligned cog wheels. Either way your track is ratcheting past the cogs on the drive shaft.
good luck with that
