Haven't seen it either. Heard the promo for it, if they are tracking down dead beats that took the cash and walked, maybe has a place in society, but not on tv. There are always two sides to every story though.

I listen to Carolla's podcast and he didn't want to do it but got talked into it. I've watched it the last couple weeks since Walking Dead is off and while it is ok I don't follow it real close. Do like the concept though, there are so many "contractors" who scam people.

I catch myself watching it all the time. Being a contractor myself, I find it funny how the guys usually end up going back and fixing or completing the job instead of "giving the money back" (yeah right!!) or going to court. These people are so trusting and then these A@&holes take advantage of them and give the guys a bad name that are trying to make an honest living. Let me tell you . . . They're everywhere!! What really burns me is when somebody does a crap job and then the people come up to me and say "I wish I would have hired you." Ugh!!

Good show though. Corolla makes it funny.

well I love any special or show that makes it hard to get down payments. we are all crooks and should be treated accordingly.
I have only had a small hand full of people over the yrs who did not want to give over a down on a big heavy supply sided job . every one I just walked not worth it

Ezra, I take zero down 2 ten net 30. In 34 years burned once by a camel jockey for profit, but he paid $8000 of the $10,000 bill before deportation.
A man is only as good as his word. The show exploits bottom feeders to sell commercial air time.
Most the customers on the show fell into their mess by hiring unlicenced contractors. Thinking price not value.

My dad always said get the money for material upon delivery. Only makes sense to me. Worse that can happen then is yur out some labor..... haven't been screwed by a homeowner in 35 years probly because they know I was never out to screw them.

................I like the show, exposing bad work and then fixing it right. Like any reality show they up the drama to where it kinda seems set up like the owner called this guy several insulting phrases that was a little far fetched like a piece of #@%&. ......Swampy if you need a good electrician in Tomahawk my brother in law is a certified sparky with his own company. Bear Wire Electric is the name.

I usually have 3 different types of payments. All at end for smaller stuff, 5k or less, down payment and final at completion with things that have cash into materials like bigger composite decks, (20k jobs) and finally some down, some after drywall complete and final at completion for bigger additions, basements or renovations where I have multiple subs involved that have done rough ins and guys like lenny that have even finished by that middle payment.

Small world ain't it? I know of him. I have a guy that I've worked with for years. The last 5 or 6 haven't been that great for giving others business.
I hope he's doing good. Seems like there's a bunch of sparkys popping up around here. Lately it seems to be owners choice. Have to go with that and hope it works out.
