We did nearly the same ride as John on Saturday (even met him briefly at the Mariner). The snow was sugar in many areas with some bare spots scattered throughout. Unlike John we went to high rock, which was a terrible ride but a nice view. We bypassed fish cove after the high rock experience, but I wish we would have taken the time to stop there since I’ve never visited this area. We stayed in Houghton but trailered to Calumet for riding. The trail through Hancock did not even look like snow, but I may have been willing to take it on a rental sled! All the paved sections and parking lots were bare, but the trails were actually better than I expected. Not much traffic. We stopped at the Bug Bar on Friday evening and only 3 sleds were in the lot. We ended up with 200 miles in a day and a half. Three guys in our group had never been to the Keweenaw, and they were planning next year’s trip on the ride home today. All-in-all we had a great weekend but less than ideal conditions.
