We'll start with the ugly...we hit 41 yesterday and 38 today...with another warm day forecast for tomorrow...the trails are, especially the Hiawatha railroad grade is toast...thin trails, are even thinner...are there is lots of slush on the lakes.

The bad....if this in coming storm is a bust...our trails will be toast for awhile as the main spurs are down to the dirt in spots.

The good....while they don't have an exact handle on the track of the big storm Tuesday into Wednesday...they have put us under a winter storm watch, and are now saying 6 plus inches (nws)...which is more in line with what john was saying friday...if we get the 6 plus inches, and colder weather behind the system...trails will improve drastically, and this weekend could be the best weekend of the winter for riding...and basically you would be able to ride any direction from tomahawk, and have good trails.

So cross your fingers, and do a snow dance...I will try and post pictures and measurements if we get the snow.

For now...it's a waiting game....so let's relax over the next 48 hours. ;)

Just got back from four days on Lake Nokomis. We were able to find enough snow to keep us happy. The swamp trail (86?) west of Tomahawk was a bad idea, but most things north and west were decent. Heck, even 17s from Lake Tomahawk through Alpine inn to Tomahawk was ok on Saturday. Good food at Bootleggers and we found an excellent rental house on Honeymoon Bay. Perfect location, Bearskin at end of road and two blocks from the gas station. We'll be back.
