Lincoln county trails in zone one are open (Hwy J in Irma and to the North).....Oneida County Trails are also open.....trails are in early season condition...we have from 4-8 inches of snow as a base (more to the north ...less to the south)...but are expecting another 2-4 inches today....DO NOT CROSS LAKES or RIVERS THAT ARE NOT MARKED!!! (use alternate routes).....also corridor 19 towards spirit falls is currently closed. The swamps are rough, and slushy in some areas...lots of water this year...we need to get them packed down more....so be careful...otherwise you should find a mix bag of good to fair conditions out there (a little more snow and cold will help a lot).....the forecast looks bad for sunday...RAIN..or mixed precip...hopefully they are wrong about this, and it's freezing rain or mostly snow (fingers crossed). So far...we are off to a better start than last year..but as always we need more snow and cold weather.

Thanks for the report Attak man. It's such a shame that this Christmas storm it cutting so far to the west. It would have been great to get a large swath of snow across MN, WI and the UP. What ya gonna do! I guess we should all be used to disappointment by now!

Northwoods Passage Lincoln county trails are closed except the Hiawatha trail from Tomahawk north to Oneida county and the 17 corridor

This announcement is from Lincoln County Forestry Dept.

The following Lincoln County Zone 1 funded snowmobile trails east of Tomahawk will open at Noon Friday Dec. 23, 2016:

Trails J, PL, and Ty; Corridor 16, Corridor 15 north of Highway J, and Corridor 17 north of Highway J.

All other funded trails in Zone 1 and Zones 2 & 3 will remain closed.
Trails crossing lakes will remain closed as well. .

Oneida County Trails are open. Trails are in fair to good early season condition.

Do not ride on lakes and rivers that are not marked. Trails across lakes will be marked as soon as they are safe.

Just clarifying a couple things for Lincoln Co. Don't want to step on Attak Mans toes but want to be sure that everyone understands whats really open.
Lakes are not marked because of ice conditions and slush. Most everything is packed with sleds. Many thanks to Brent and Tom from Ace Hardware for their time and efforts on the trail. The 86 trail from town to Spirit Falls is passable but remains closed until we get more cold and snow. The 19 corridor (T trail) form Spirit Falls to Tripoli is closed and very wet!!!! We got it all packed with sleds and nobody got stuck, outside of a little wet foot! I learned to just stay on the sled in that stuff. If we get more snow we'll have to do it all over again but at least the trees are all cut off the trail now. If anyone wants to help pack when we get more snow get a hold of Tim at Tomahawk Sports Center.

Also, on Corridor 19 (T Trail) - Just South of Tripoli - South of where it meets trail 10, we lost a bridge. It floated downstream about 75 yards and actually reset itself perfectly across the crick. We packed a new trail but still have to put up new signs for the small re-route.
