Tomahawk area

Looking good so far....trail base held up well in the wooded areas during our warm spell, and the tomahawk area got around 3 inches of wet snow...though it had started raining at 9 am...if we dont get too much rain the trails should be decent by the weekend (colder weather and a little more snow is expected this week)...I expect the clubs will get out tomorrow when the temps drop, and start at least panning...this is really good wet, packy snow...should set up nice.

3" of wet snow and currently light drizzle. Will add nicely to the existing solid ice base.

Now we need a couple inches of LES for top dressing.

At 2pm...no rain in ldf...just a light mist...not melting the snow down...looking good...so far...as I mentioned with the cooler weather coming, these trails should be real nice by the weekend

All we can do is wait and see. The snow is so wet right now. Doesn't look like its going to get cold enough tonight to get some moisture out
of the snow. A couple of drivers are going to try grooming tomorrow so we'll see what happens. Might just be better to wait until Wednesday.
There's gonna be that perfect time to get out and get started. Too early and the snow will just ball up and get stuck in the drag. Too late and
we loose the consistency of the moist snow. I'm sure we will Try to have the Northern Zone of Lincoln County open by the weekend. Will post
as soon as we hear anything.

We have a house near Swamp Lake. Most riders last weekend says trails were pretty decent including the bearskin ...

Yep...the ice base held up well...and we added some good wet snow (around 3 inches)....I'm thinking it's going to be decent out there...not perfect (I'm sure there will be a few thin spots, and maybe some slush in a few wet areas)...definitely worth coming up to ride

Trails are smooth and mostly white but thin in areas we rode like willow region, Swamp lake . North of K on bearskin trail is nice. lakes have bare thick ice and occasional patches of snow and were not much fun . Trails on roads are real thin and you need to watch the sled temps. We didn’t ride south of Lake Nokomis. More snow is needed on the good base.

Yesterday I had to go put some signs back up West of Tomahawk (My backyard) that were taken down for brushing and I was very surprised of the trail conditions. Agreed, we need more snow, but for the most part they are very nice for the amount of snow that we have. We groomed after it started to get cold again after the rain last week. The trails in Lincoln County weren't ridden on so we had more snow to work with. The base is definitely hard packed but seems to have a little loose snow the more people are riding on them. We run studs so we didn't have any problems with overheating. I'm not saying all the trails are perfect but if you want to ride, and you can put up with some early season conditions, there's a lot of fun to be had out there!

X2...couldn't agree more...its not perfect out there but it is better than people thought..had numerous groups come through saturday....all of them were surprised how good the trails actually were...they were expecting much worse...that being said the non studded riders had some issues on the lakes, as there is little snow for traction in spots...so they did alot of spinning, and they did encounter a few icy corners..which of course is more sketchy with out studs...but overall good reports from the people out riding...they really had fun, and were glad they came.
