Does anyone have an update on the trials in Lincoln County? Are more trails going to be open by this weekend?

Is it worth coming up Saturday I see rain for Sunday. You think it still be good riding

It's pretty soft out there...the wet areas, are really wet now...and the lakes still aren't safe...it is melting down, but there is still alot of snow in the woods..any trail that runs the sides of roads is down to the pavement.
And yeah...supposed to continue with the warm spell, with rain this weekend. I never like to tell people not to come up...but if it was me, I'd stay home

Thanks for the update, I think I will wait until Jan 4 and 5. The forecast is calling for colder weather and possible snow.

Below is an update from Northwoods Passage Snowmobile Club:

31 December 19

Oneida county trails are open except LAKES. Lake trails are closed.
Lincoln County trails north and east of Tomahawk are open. This includes the Hiawatha trail from Tomahawk to Oneida County.
Be careful. With the rain and warm weather there was a lot of water on the trails. We had about 8 inches of heavy snow yesterday and now it has gotten colder. Groomers are out this morning on the Hiawatha trail and in the Rhinelander area where possible. We have to go around swamps as they are not frozen yet. Trail conditions should be improving daily as we get them packed. In some areas we are starting over again to get trails open..
PLEASE STAY OFF OF THE WATER.

Some trail closures announced by northwoods passage

The short connector trail (Nest Rd/Quiet Cove Rd) off the Bearskin Trail heading towards The Thirsty Giraffe has been temporarily closed due to an open swamp. The 8E trail heading towards Jenny Lake Rd (8E & Bearskin intersection) is closed also until we can get through the Creek just off Jenny Lake Rd.
RIDE WITH CAUTION!

Thank you for always being honest and for your area updates. I have to drive for 7 hours to get to that area more or less. I'm 62 now, and in "the old days" it was a crapshoot. Of course not as many weather fluctuations either. Happy New Year to all. Attak man: Sometimes I head up there alone to relax. Wherever you're working now I enjoy a beer. Be happy to say thanks in person

Attak man, I have a place on Manson lake. I always look for your reports before I plan my snowmobile trips. You are always honest and accurate! I brought the sleds up Saturday for the extended New Year's weekend. We did some riding New Year's eve and following day. Besides all the heavy snow hanging the branches over the trail, I have to say that I don't ever recall the early riding conditions to be so nice! The swamps and lakes need to freeze up more, but I think the rain on Sunday may have been a blessing! Our lake has a much better chance to freeze up now that most of the snow turned into water before we got the 8' of new snow. The groomed trails have a really nice base.

I plan to stop by Fishtrap sometime to say hi also.

It’s 37 now swamps are not freezing I was there yesterday trails around Minocqua St Germain were decent. Rhinelander seemed to have a lot of swamps but worth riding.

The trails took a beating yesterday...lots of sleds out...the snow is holding up well...its pretty nice in some areas..but we still have some swamps and wet areas that are giving us issues...its just not been cold enough, and the heavy snow insulating the swamps. DO NOT RIDE THE LAKES!!! THEY ARE NOT MARKED FOR S REASON!! Two snowmobilers lost their lives last night on lake nokomis..as they went through the ice...its a terrible tragedy..my thoughts and prayers are with their families...but please (and I cant stress this enough)..STAY OFF THE LAKES UNTIL THEY ARE MARKED!!! (At this point, they will not be marked anytime soon)
