I got one of my snowmobile rags today and they had the top 10 rumors for next year and found them interesting and wanted to share them with those interested.

1. Ski-Doo is going to have an 800cc E-TEC. (We know that)
2. Polaris is going to put an 800cc engine in the new Rush chassis. (Ditto)
3. AC is going to put a 600cc or 800cc engine in its race sled chassis, what is now the Sno Pro 500, for the consumer market.
4. Yamaha is going to introduce a new higher horsepower engine in its Nytro chassis.
5. Ski-Doo is going to create a turbo-charged version of its 1200 E-TEC, or have a more powerful natural 4-stroke.
6. Polaris is going to have a new (or highly updated) 4-stroke engine. (This one interests me as I need a new sled next year.)
7. AC is going to drop the F-series line and put its entire trail sled lineup, except for the 4-strokes, into its race sled chassis.
8. Yamaha is going to abandon its Apex mountain line.
9. Air shock rear suspensions will be standard on all 800 mountain sleds, and most 600's, from all OEM's.
10. GPS will be a factory option on one or more OEM's sleds. (Great idea!)

I'm sure you have heard many of these, but there were several I had not. It's fun to watch the sleds improve year after year.

Only if it has a bigger color screen than I already have (3" wide) and not some stupid proprietary memory cards, maps and software -- All of which OEMs seem to love to do.

And it needs to be theft proof (not likely) or it is just another enticer for the 50% of the population that is below average intelligence.

1. Ski-Doo is going to have an 800cc E-TEC.
Would be news if doo does not do this. Firesale on Powertek 800 non currents coming up:>)

2. Polaris is going to put an 800cc engine in the new Rush chassis.
Would be news if Poo does not do this. Firesale on Rush 600 non currents coming up:>)

3. AC is going to put a 600cc or 800cc engine in its race sled chassis, what is now the Sno Pro 500, for the consumer market.
Would be nice cat guys would luv it!

4. Yamaha is going to introduce a new higher horsepower engine in its Nytro chassis.
I don't second guess Yamaha just never know they have no leaks in R&D unless they want info out before release.

5. Ski-Doo is going to create a turbo-charged version of its 1200 E-TEC, or have a more powerful natural 4-stroke.
I would luv to see this happen & Doo needs to do more with 4s & get away from GSX 1200 duffer package more like with Yamaha Apex. Yamaha Apex LTX GT shines at the top of 4s line up. No one touches this market segment bang for buck like Yamaha.

6. Polaris is going to have a new (or highly updated) 4-stroke engine.
I like this one & have been waiting years for poo to install a liberty 4s in a power crusier package simular to Apex Attack. I hope they don't go Classic & make it a duffer sled like Doo GSX. Power crusiers want the best shocks & 11/4" ripsaw & handle bars with hooks don't make a milk toast sled for this group

8. Yamaha is going to abandon its Apex mountain line.
Yes will or should happen. :>) Apex really not intended for moutain application & Yamaha has much better direction with other mountain models. More likely 1st Yamaha turbo or SC engine release for mountain apps. Mountain guys don't like weight but luv raw power 4s offers. They want both lite weight & power & will get both eventually from 4s in good time & Yamaha ready to offer & be #1 here.

10. GPS will be a factory option on one or more OEM's sleds.
Will make sleds more expensive & I would rather have hand held model. I have been riding a long time without GPS & really don't need it but if folks want fine with me but would be difficult to tear out when you start walking.lol

11. A plug or connector in plain view with a bright orange sticker attached "Electric Shield"

Think of it as a "No Shield Left Behind" design

Supertrax has riding the new yamahas...not letting the cat out of the bag though...it sounds like a new chassis (they called it rider forward), new ski design, and possibly POWER STEERING?? Very interesting..I wouldn't doubt somebody will see this sled between Greenland, and Twin Lakes over the next two weeks...SO KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN!!! Also was told both Polaris and Cat are testing in Houghton Area..800 Polaris Rush has already been spotted, and photographed..along with new switchback (the front end, hood etc ) looks like a rush, but with regular rear suspension.

Cat (which I currently own)..needs to do the most work if they want to catch up..they need 600 and 800 dfi engines, and I'd love to see the new crossfires look like the sno-pro 500.

Can't wait to see what's coming...should be interesting.

They should just provide a universal bracket and power plugin for the GPS units. If they wanted to offer a unit, it should just be a credit and you go buy one of your liking.

Yamaha needs to get rid of that piece of crap nytro, wake up R&D.

power steering what? like 3/4 ton is not heavy enough add some more parts.I Really hope they don't try and change out the Chane drive to DD on the sno pro 500 when they drop a 800 in it.I don't think cat will be dropping the newer800 next yr.way to bad azz of a power plant to scrap after 1yr.

DD is no more on any AC sleds (M, CF, F, ....) going forward.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, maybe gradually over the next few seasons it gets taken away with new chassis releases, but that is way to much to change in one model year. I suspect you will see some limited builds w/o it, but with this economy I don't expect a lot of drastic changes across the board. Who knows though, new CEO at Cat might want to make some big changes...... nah who am I kidding they don't care about their dealers!

Wow! who took a dump in your coffee today?

Seems like you did & you have baggage to say something like that. Move on don't dwell on pass thread opinions that are different than yours life is too short & snowmobiling is what we all have in common. :>) Don't turn this thread into another soap box & let your fustration go I know I'm moving on. Good post Mark & I hope we see some of these imporvements in 2011.

Of course over time - As the new sleds are released, there will be no more DD. It has been cooking well before the economy tanked...
