Well, this really comes as no suprise, but, again, found it interesting. This web survey was conducted by AmSnow & is as follows:

1). Western Upper Peninsula, MI:D
2). Eagle River / St. Germain, WI
3). Valcourt, Que
4). Tug Hill, N.Y.
5). Old Forge, N.Y.
6). Revelstoke, B.C.
7). The County, Maine
8). West Yellowstone, Montana
9). Togwotee, Wyoming
10). Great North Woods Region, N.H.

I know Eagle River & St. Germain area's are nice, but, don't you think more snow would be in order to be a favorite SNOWmobile destination? Maybe I am spoiled living in the Keweenaw, but I really couldn't ride in less.-Mezz

I think it's great that the UP and northern WI are 1&2. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to live in and ride these areas.

I think they also take restaurants, hospitality and night life into consideration.

Plus it is a survey and most of the people taking the survey probably live in these areas and can't afford to travel to the others on the list, which includes me. If everyone had a chance to travel out west, the results may be different. jmo.

One thing I like about the list is they don't list MN north shore area. There's no good riding up there and you should all stay away! Seriously, I think Snowbuff has it right, there needs to be amenities to rank high and luckily we don't have them up here!

Yeah, they take amenities (gas/bar/hotel/etc) into consideration, as well as travel distance form major cities. Plus, since eagle river area and st germain have way more money to work with, they take much better care of their trails, and signage than the UP has the ability to do (relative to amount of snow they have to work with of course). Anyone who has ridden both the Up and N Wisc knows how much better marked the trails are in wisconsin, not to mention they can groom 24/7 on weekends and popular times because they have the money to do so. Again, there's a big financial aspect to this list.

just a thought AM snow think any one west of sioux falls reads a rag more or less dedicated to flatlanders? I love ridding in the up but all thing being equal like drive time can any one really say they would rather ride logging roads heavy & woods a few 1/4 mi long hills or 1000s of acres of deep hilly pow dropping in to huge pow filled bowls climbing through the pines jumping cornices in to bottomless pow. no I guess miles of rail grade sounds better yeah right

I'm with ubee ride on trails with the least amount of traffic off the beaten path. No bars, gas stations, cabins within 50 miles = little or no traffic. :)

We also are the trail-less-traveled family. May have to run trails for a few miles til we can get to the logging roads/etc... but we prefer to stay away from the traffic and explore. Since our kids are with us for 90% of the riding we do, we try to get out and visit some interesting trail side restauraunts.

Then you would like Ontario, Canada. We rode north of Dryden about 5 years ago for a few days. 60 miles or so between anything. It was fun, no traffic, smooth trails, and really COOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDD!

Lets not let this thread be a trick to cough up all our good spots. Like Cuzzinolaf say's "trails good, off trail bad". and leave it at that. lol ;)

Oak Grove has new owners. Prices are thru the roof there. They have taken most all the dollar bills off the ceiling. It is still fun on a Saturday night, just bring lots more money. HeidiHof has great food over in Freesoil and it is a nice ride over there if snow permits.
