Torn Track

Do they make a glue that will hold? Put studs in over the summer and would prefer not to swap out the track. Tear looks to be about a 1-1.5 inches.

No glue. If you don't want to replace it, I would cut that piece out and then burn the edges all the way around so it won't fray or tear anymore.

How did you manage to put studs in but not notice the tear over the summer?

Better choice would have been to put icer ripper track on but too late now just cut & burn hole then hope for the best. Do you know how tear started? Not a good sign then installing new studs on top of old iffy track could be a problem keep an eye on it for sure. I have seen tracks come completely off rider thinking he could get just 1 more year be careful.

When it is flat you can barely see it. I must have been in a zone or too may beers when putting in the studs! I think I'll burn it and see what happens. Thanks.

Tracks are unusually tough. If you fix, carry a sharp knife with you, that way if it starts to come apart and hit you can cut a peice off and continue back to base camp. Did this 1 time for 60 miles @ 40 miles an hour. Once the reinforcement rods start to break on the ends your time is limited. I also had a track split and come completely off , wrap around and hit me in the helmet top. Old track of course. You really have to be "on it " and pay attention, like said above , could do more damage , especially loaded with studs.

Whitedust- Do you have the Ice Ripper XT track? How do you like it?

Wish I did! I'm running 108 studs with long nuts down the middle 136 track & still looks like new after 6000 miles but I stay out of snirt & low snow conditions. 6000 miles is tops for me so far without having pull thrus & missing lugs but used to be on doos now on Yam. If my track starts showing signs of wear an ice ripper will be my replacement. 1.25 Ripsaw is a great track & prestuded makes it even better. Lots of bad things can happen to you if track comes off & it does happen. If you hear something clunking in tunnel you will know what it is so having a sharp knife to trim torn lugs & studs is only way to get you back home & smart move.

I run 120 and the track is in great shape minus the rip, so I hope she holds. If the storm holds true then hopefully I'll her out this weekend and see. Thanks for the info.
