Got a buddy looking to buy a new track and we're wondering what you guys think is a better track for aggressive trail riding. Sled is a 01 doo mxz 700. original track was a 7/8 or something like that.

If he spends no time off trail I would go 1.25" Ripsaw, if he does get into the powder then the Cobra track is far superior.

actually he'll probably be hitting some logging roads and some off trail from time to time, probably 85/15

I would like to hear your opinions on why, the good and bad about both

I had the rip saw on my 06 Apex on hard packed trail great track. Off trail it sucks just trenched. From having a crap saw and knowing there is some logging roads the cobra would be the way I would go IF i wasnt going taller that is. If you go the road of the rip saw let me know I know where there is one with 3-400 miles on it like new. Father in law wants his studs back! Best of luck!

I have had them both and liked them both. You can't go wrong with either or. Either one of these are 100% better than any stock track. Ripsaw= better trail track and Cobra= better off trail. IMO there wasn't a night and day difference between them so whatever one you can get a better deal on buy it and go. Good luck.

I've had both also and currently still have the cobra on. As Tgun said their really isn't a night and day difference except off trail. The Cobra does bite harder while sliding around corners for sure and I had to adjust for ski lift once installed while the ripsaw would slide effortlessly. Out of the hole I think the cobra provides a little more grip too. I'm waiting to see how the cobra holds up since it's only a single ply track. My ripsaw made it to around 5000 miles before it de-laminated and came apart.

If you go with the "new design" ripsaw like the Ripsaw Lite, it is a better off trail performing track than the older Ripsaw! The older Ripsaw will get stuck if you just think about going off trail!!
