Wanted to let everyone know if you are riding Trail 160 anytime, stop in at Trackside Pub a few miles north of Ironwood. Keith, is the new owner (former Mels Bar) and, is a sledder. He also volunteers grooming the trails. He is a great guy and, needs some business ! Stop in on Friday after 5pm and, my wife Alice bartends. There is a Trackside Pub sign on the trail.

A group of 6 of us stopped in there a 3 weeks ago today. We tried to make it out to the lake, but made it to Airport Road, and turned around the snow thinned so much. We had a real good time talking to the locals "North Ironwooders". The day we were there it was 47 and sunny, and the water was pouring off the roof. Couldn't stay too long-we were worried we wouldn't make it back into town the way the snow was melting. Are they running the groomer over there off of trail 160 now? We had to run the railroad tracks, until the last little stretch we were able to run through a field. My understanding is we weren't legal in doing that???

Trail 160

Trail 160 is being groomed on a regular basis now. We rode it right after the groomer had been on it, NICE! Trail 160 also goes up to Bald Mountain now. You can also ride on the side of the roads in the township to get to Trackside and Hautala's. Trackside Pub and Keith are great! Great pizzas! We took 160 into Wisconsin and stopped at Driftwood (Ed and Judy) great burgers! Don't forget Hautala's Historic Bar also - great pizza fries! Sounds like we do nothing but eat... our boys come up and we ride with them and the grandkids, these places are great to stop at. @upbarleyboy - they'll get you for riding the tracks if "they" are around. Be careful with that! :)

Back in the day when I was growing up we used to have a place near Big Powderhorn ski resort. Long story short, we would run the railroad tracks towards trackside, through some fields and somehow would end up by Don & GG's in Ironwood and pick up trail 2. Not sure how my dad and his buds did it but it worked...and so not legal!
