from Twin Lakes to M-38, well Dave made the decission to go for the 1st time this year. We got to the groomer's barn to find Richard doing maintance, he opened the door and out came the groomer, after filling out the log book Richard waved us good bye. Heading down the trail for the 1st. time of the year we thought wow 8" to 12" for sure, looked back a beautiful ribbon appeared. As the 1/2 moon and a few stars were twinkling I noticed how the lights lit up the Keweenaw Kamoed trees, they weren't just lightly dusted they were flocked heavy with the white stuff we've all been waiting for.As we got to the tressels the snow depth dropped to 6" to 8" but noticed where the usual water holes were most were frozen, at least we didn't break through, made it to M-38 and the snow depth was still the same. We decided to head back groomer was running fine, we both said this will be the last time we see a perfect ribbon as we head back, no swish tracks, speed bumps or donuts spun, oooohhhh so pretty.Richard will be out in the morning heading to Toivola, so here's hoping the season has started for the crew. As John wrote they started in the Keweenaw as well. HAPPY TRAILS TO ALL and to all a good night. Left at 7:30 logged this in at 1:20 night!
